Protea Hotel by Marriott Franschhoek

Perfect location

Wir hatten 2 tolle Tage in diesem schönen zentral gelegenen Hotel. Vor allem, einfach nur über die Straße und wir waren an der Weintramstation. Perfekt Neben an der Husaren Grill auch sehr lecker. Man sollte hier darauf achten keinen Platz an der Küche zu bekommen. Das war sehr laut und hatte uns gestört. Das essen war super lecker !

Great Location in the wine country with assorted high-end shops within walking distance. Also close to a number of nice restaurants. Excellent breakfast included in the rate. Secure parking area.

Nothing, really. Parking for check-in is a little unclear as there is no special parking at the hotel on arrival.

The cleanliness of the overall property & rooms! The efficiency of the staff and its closeness to the Wine Tram.

We had an amazing stay at the Protea. The facilities were great, the bed was so comfortable and the location was great too. Thr staff were lovely and looked after us.

Gorgeous hotel with lovely rooms. Right in the town and only a short walk to a supermarket and the Wine Tram office. Lovely breakfasts and excellent dinner at The Hussar restaurant which is part of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and everything was very clean.

Breakfast was ok - a fair selection. As all rooms face onto an open passageway/ pool area - it was very noisy with doors slamming and showers and baths being run at all hours of the night! No privacy in the bedroom without having the curtains drawn. People tend to look into the bedrooms so you can't have the doors or windows or curtains open. Room was comfortable and clean with great shower!

The Hussar Grill Breakfast Manager needed to be more attentive as to the need for clean plates on the buffet!! There were dirty side plates in a pile on the buffet. I requested clean plates. He told the Watron to wipe them - she said she would take them to be washed!! It would have been nice if he greeted you instead of ignoring me when I was looking for a side plate on another occasion! The traffic noise on the road side of the restaurant is crazy. Evening in Hussar Grill - the Waiters need to pay more attention - we had to get up and call them on a few occasions!! Maybe it is slack because they think we are all tourists who will never return!! The food was good, high prices but the service doesn't match! The Reception Staff weren't friendly and didn't help much with local knowledge.
