Panviman Chiang Mai Spa Resort

Panviman Chiang Mai is a truly special place if you’re looking for peace, space and spectacular scenery. Set high in the mountains outside the city, the resort offers breathtaking views over lush valleys and rolling hills. Waking up here feels almost magical. The villas are spacious and atmospheric, many with private terraces or pools, and blend beautifully into the natural surroundings. The overall architecture and landscaping give the resort a distinctive Northern Thai character. The infinity pool overlooking the valley is one of the highlights — especially in the early morning or late afternoon light. Breakfast was generous and varied, with both Thai and Western options.

That said, there are a few things to keep in mind. The resort is quite remote. While that adds to the tranquility, it also means you are fully dependent on transport if you want to visit Chiang Mai city. Some of the property are steep, so walking around can be a bit of a workout. Certain parts of the resort show signs of age. While charming, some facilities could benefit from refurbishment to truly match the premium pricing. Service was friendly, though occasionally not as polished as you might expect at this level.

Panviman Chiang Mai Spa Resort is a hidden gem in the mountains. The views are absolutely stunning, especially in the morning when the air is cool and fresh. The resort has a calm and charming atmosphere, and the rooms are large and beautifully designed. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay.

We loved the beautiful resort grounds- there was so much to explore. It felt like a place you can truly enjoy your holiday. The pool area is gorgeous as well.

The biggest downside and the reason why we can’t rate it higher is the food. There is only one restaurant in the resort and other options are nonexistent if you don’t have a car. Unfortunately the restaurants food was bland at best… not at all what we have experienced at other resorts. We tried different dishes on 3 nights for dinner. Part of an enjoyable holiday for us is to have good food in combination with a good hotel. Although the resort itself is beautiful, we will not come back for this reason. Another small thing to note is that the facilities are a little bit dated and the staff, although polite, is not very warm.

🌿 Review of Panviman Chiang Mai Spa Resort I’ve stayed here several times because I really love the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful natural surroundings. The resort is set on a hillside, so you get amazing views (depending on the room type you book.) and fresh air — it truly feels like a place to relax and recharge. 🌳⛰️ 🏡 Atmosphere & Rooms The rooms are spacious and decorated in a lovely Lanna style. Each room has a balcony where you can sit and enjoy the view. The mornings and evenings are especially nice with the cool breeze. It’s quiet and very private — perfect if you want to escape the busy city. 🍽️ Food The food is delicious, both breakfast and other meals. The breakfast selection is quite varied and good quality. Every time I come back, I’m still impressed. 💛 Service The staff are friendly, polite, and attentive. They really make you feel welcome and well taken care of. ⚠️ Things to Consider Since the resort is located on a hillside, there are quite a few stairs and some steep walking paths. They do have shuttle service within the property, but overall it may not be very convenient for elderly guests or anyone with knee or mobility issues. It’s a good idea to request a room close to the main facilities if needed. Overall, this is still one of my favorite places to stay in Chiang Mai — I always find myself coming back for the peace, nature, and warm hospitality. ✨

We chose a High Mountain Deluxe Room specifically to guarantee sweeping views over the beautiful valley. While the view was pleasant, it did fall slightly short of expectations, as around 80% of what we saw was forest and jungle rather than the open valley panorama we had imagined. That said — and this is important — there is truly nothing else to criticize about this hotel. Panviman is simply fantastic. The rooms are beautifully designed in dark wood with an elegant Asian atmosphere. Warm, stylish, and perfectly in harmony with the mountain setting. You genuinely feel immersed in northern Thailand. The swimming pools are absolutely stunning — two main pools plus a heated herbal jacuzzi — all carefully landscaped and positioned to maximize the views. The way everything is designed and decorated makes it feel serene and luxurious without being overdone. The spa and the Zen relaxation gardens with ponds are equally impressive. If you stay here, book the “Spa in Heaven for 2” session. We did the three-hour treatment and it was pure bliss — complete relaxation and escape from the world. Truly one of the highlights of our stay. The restaurant and breakfast area offer both local and international dishes. We personally always gravitate toward local cuisine, and everything we tried was flavorful and well prepared. Finally, the staff deserves real praise: kind, helpful, attentive, and genuinely friendly throughout our stay. Panviman Chiang Mai is, in almost every respect, a Thai paradise on earth. If you are looking for atmosphere, tranquility, and mountain beauty — this is your place.
