Residence Inn Birmingham Hoover

We booked a family suite but had two bedrooms and a pull-out couch apparently the catch was not available and the hotel ended up giving us the two bedroom suite and a studio room for free to compensate because they didn't have what we booked very generous everyone was very nice

Could have a little better bed for comfort. We would also live some kind of chairs also besides just a couch

Quiet and very clean room. Very convenient to everything. Breakfast was wonderful

The hotel itself was very nice but the service was extremely poor. When we initially tried to check inn, we were told to come back later as our room was not ready yet. We had no issue with that, until we received an email while we were waiting that our reservation was going to be cancelled as they couldn’t run the credit card. I had to call the hotel to make sure my reservation was not canceled (the credit card was fine). The next day while out & about, we received another email saying we had been checked out of our room (we had a three day reservation). Again I called the hotel in a panic. After speaking with the same employee who was going to cancel our room the first time around, he informed me he confused my room with another one and then fixed the reservation. I was told that we would have housekeeping services on day 2 of our stay, which never happened. I have always preferred Marriott properties because of the service. Sadly, this property did not meet the Marriott standard in service.

Staff was great; front desk was helpful and friendly

This is a beautiful hotel. Every single employee that we came in contact with was so helpful and friendly.

Front desk staff were friendly and responsive. However, our biggest disappointment was settling in at night, only to find there was NO comforter on the bed! They had just covered it in a sheet. Even more shocking was there were no other comforters in the entire hotel that they could find. How they could find this acceptable to present a room like this is beyond me, nor did they ever once offer any kind of compensation for our inconvenience and discomfort. Our toilet paper holder also was broken, and the front door got jammed as did other guests. Room stunk with an odd smell.
