Grand Melanesian Hotel

Expectations are key here. It's an urban environment; not particularly quiet, but was a great option for us. A few minutes drive from the airport after a long trip with small children. We stayed a couple of nights and enjoyed the pool, the very nearby fruit/veg market and a shabby but very cheap and cheerful eatery attached to the nearby supermarket (curries from FJ$4). Big groups sometimes stay here; it has the feel of a big, hearty family setup. Friendly and chilled staff who took care of us. Rooms clean enough (not pristine; you get what you pay for!) and laundry was good. We liked it enough to return for another night on our way out of Fiji. Very handy to airport.

The prices are good if you are looking for cheap accomodation but don't expect too much. The rooms are good to sleep in with aircon and tv but facilities are limited and bathrooms leak water. We didn't order food from the resturant as there is a resturant right next door which is a more enjoyable place to eat. there is wifi but for a small fee. The pool was constantly dirty and there is no place to do laundry if you are on a long stay. Its quite easy to get transport from here and the staff are friendly and all to happy to help which makes the stay that little bit better

Have stayed here before. Despite some upgrades/improvements in the bathroom, I enjoyed the stay less than ever. Not all PowerPoints worked; a borrowed iron didn't work; paid breakfast was poor; and, came away with lots of itchy bites (bed bugs?) Handy to airport, but that's about it.

No guest towels in the room!Even after asking 3 times.

I was only there one night but staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was very nice in the attached restaurant and well priced.

Very close to the airport and also the shops are close by, buses and taxis very easy to get to, very friendly staff.

Convenient for overnight, free airport transfer

Very poorly maintained motel, swimming pool green and dirty water no filtration, not fit to swim, complained 3 times about its condition. Room large but air con working poorly, too hot , small kitchen with fridge, restaurant meals good and not expensive. Staff friendly and helpful, no free wifi, a budget hotel but would give it a miss and stay at a more expensive hotel, beach far away but bus services outside door.

Dirty, rundown establishment. No towels, doors falling off, dirty marks around every door handle and light switch. Establishments can be old, which is OK, but they cannot be old, warn out and dirty. Wotif is doing itself a no good by having this establishment on it's books.

The service is the poorest I've ever been experienced. Room is okay clean but no towels and drinking water. Restaurant very filthy crumbs all over. I couldn't sit the couch in the reception coz it's very filthy. We arrived 1am and the lady in the reception is not very accommodating and not smiling at all.
