Ocean Club Hotel

We were in Cape May years ago and had fond memories of the quiet, non- Jersey shore type atmosphere. We had stayed in an elegant hotel a few blocks from the beach. This time we wanted to be right by the beach so we chose this hotel thinking it was an upscale choice. We were wrong. First impressions- when you arrive you pull into the back of the hotel so you are greeted with dumpsters and such. You walk up a ramp into a dingy hallway. The lobby looks as though it’s been redone and offers you hope. Yet then you go back down a dark hallway to the elevator and then through a strange, half glass walkway to our room. We had a suite. The air never cooled off the living room area. The bathroom was not big enough to leave a toothbrush in. The bedroom was always freezing as we had to try and cool down the living room. It looks as though they have redo parts of the room but didn’t want to take the expense of a full redo. We booked a room with the “private sun deck.” So the private sun deck is not really “private” It is a sitting area right outside the bedroom - which is nice. There is like drapery so you could close it off. Of course, then you would have no air or anything. The sun deck is really just part of the whole sundeck that is right above the pool. So if it’s crowded at the pool, the sundeck is packed and then there are loads of people in your “private” lounging area. The other problem with this “private” area is there is plexiglass up around the edges and it blocks any breeze or air. Our room was at the end of the deck and the noise from the dj was unbearable. Sooo we paid for this feature in our room and used it for maybe 15minutes. Someone above us also dropped a large shovel and it missed my head by an inch. Back to the room- there was a cheerio under the bed when we arrived and it stayed there for our whole stay. The housekeeping left much to be desired. On checkout we were told we could not keep the beach tags past 11am nor could we keep our car parked there. This should be clearly communicated when you book the hotel. I have never been to a hotel where you don’t have access to their amenities on your check out day. Let alone, not being able to leave your car there. I would only recommend this hotel if you want a place to sleep right by the beach and you don’t care about cleanliness.

The staff at this hotel particularly Sammy at the pool is amazing. He watches over the pool area as if it were his own cherished home- keeping it clean, rushing to exchange towels, etc. The rooms in the hotel are not fancy but very clean . We had a suite with a balcony and the balcony was big enough to sit outside.

The location was the only positive part.

Staff made us very uncomfortable with having a service dog. They ruined the trip. Also, the facility is not worth the price in general. It is nothing special and just a normal hotel.

Great location, and I liked that the hotel provided beach umbrella and towels. I didn’t like showering in cold water. We were four, and none of us took long showers, but I was always last and had cold showers.

This is our second time staying at The Ocean Club Hotel. It’s a fabulous hotel. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable - and that ocean view was wonderful. Restaurant is on site. We ate there for lunch out of convenience; but it was quiet and food was tasty. Check in was easy and our room was ready and we arrived early. Check out was just as easy. Staff was friendly and attentive. Chatted with Eboni who was so sweet and told her the restaurants we visit during our stay, she was a delight. Will definitely be back.

Clean rooms, attentive service especially from Sam (pool) and Eboni (front desk). Overall a great experience, will be sure to go back next summer.

I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at the Ocean club Hotel in Cape May. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful—charming, well-maintained, and spotless from top to bottom. Every corner felt thoughtfully designed and incredibly clean, which made our stay all the more relaxing. The front desk staff were truly a pleasure—so warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our entire visit. You can really tell they care about their guests and go out of their way to make you feel at home. And the food—wow! Every meal we had at the hotel was incredible. From breakfast to dinner, everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. It's rare to find a hotel that delivers such a high-quality dining experience. If you're visiting Cape May, I highly recommend staying here. It exceeded our expectations in every way!

Great Food, Great View, Great Staff! Eboni is amazing. She helped us with everything, and even mailed items we forgot in our room to us. The beach chair setup and wait staff are also fantastic. Highly recommended if you’re looking to live in Luxury while soaking up the sun in Cape May.
