Courtyard by Marriott Vicksburg

Stopped for one night on the way back from Houston to Atlanta. Wanted to see the battlefield which was nice. However, this hotel is like the town, it has seen better days. The layout of the room had the television on the side of the room and a long hallway with wasted space. There was not a lot of outlets which is a pet peeve traveling with phones and computers. Room was quiet and the bed was nice though. The air conditioning unit was freezing. The thermostat is located a ways away from the vent blowing cold air. We actually turned the heat on to get to a reasonable temperature. We paid more for this hotel, which does not offer a free breakfast than we did for a higher star hotel in Texas and not sure why. Staff was good and friendly though.

Our room had no towels or shower curtain ( basically they didn't finish preparing it). The exercise equipment was barely working. Something wrong with each piece. Needs tune up. The food while served by the nicest people was marginal and the lettuce for caesar salad was unwashed and crunchy. The bed was comfortable enough. For the price... I expected better.

Garbage not emptied in bathroom, tub full of hair. Bathroom floor not swept. 1 towel, no washcloths

The bed was amazing and the staff was super sweet.

While the hotel is relatively clean and comfortable, it does need quite a bit of upkeep and upgrades to bring it to a standard Marrriott Courtyard standard. The furniture/bedding/rooms are dated and show lots of signs of wear and tear. Carpets look like they could be replaced as well. Other notes: no free breakfast (like any other Courtyard), slow wifi, room cleaning only if you ask for it (and they still forgot to do my room 2x in 3 days despite request).

I was assigned a room and when i went to the room the door was already opened. Had to request a new room.
