I graduated from The Citadel in 1971 and was back to celebrate our 55th anniversary. We wanted to stay at the Embassy Suites Charleston - Historic District because of its relationship to The Citadel. We were downtown in the historic district, went out to eat at many charming restaurants, and completely enjoyed ourselves.

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful—elegant, clean, and very well maintained. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not match the quality of the property. The food was disappointing. Several items were not cooked thoroughly, which made the meal unenjoyable and concerning. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected much better attention to food quality and preparation. Additionally, the dining area is surprisingly small for such a large and beautiful hotel. Seating felt cramped and limited, especially during busy times, which took away from what should have been a relaxing experience. While the hotel’s appearance and atmosphere are impressive, the food quality and limited dining space significantly detract from the overall experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as improving these areas would greatly enhance guest satisfaction.

Beds were so comfy. Shower pressure was super high, could melt your skin off. Breakfast and evening reception were excellent. Location was close to restaurants and charleston museum. The valet parking was expensive but the breakfast and room rate made up for it.

We didn't realize it was haunted before staying here. The lights in the bathroom flickered on and off. Some makeup disappeared in the night. The elevator would stop on every floor and turn off the floor selection and made screeching noises when it stopped.
