"Convenient hotel for kitesurfing"

6.0

The hotel is very well located to practice kitesurfing. The restaurants around are good. The hotel is clean. Very disappointed by the standard bedroom, too simple, the mattress very bad quality. Maybe next time, it should be better to have a bedroom in the new part of the hotel. Safe place

"Decent Hotel for the Price"

8.0

Stayed for 6 nights with four people. We got a great deal and didn't expect much. The hotel met and/or exceeded our expectations. The hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. The grounds are kept and we felt pretty safe at the hotel. The breakfast included fresh fruit and was better than expected. I will however add that the lights, fridge and tv were not working in both rooms when we got there. Although we weren't really using the lights and it didn't bother us, it would have been great if they had checked these items as a basic courtesy before our arrival.

"best place to stay on kite beach"

10.0

This was my second time in Cabarete and I have to say I was once again impressed by the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. The location can't be beat for any kiteboarders and surfers and you can always find someone in the hotel office to help with any questions you might have from cabs to restaraunts or even surf breaks... Beautiful place with friendly people and great wind ;-). I'll be saving my pesos for a return trip very soon. Doug

"Great place for the price and friendly"

10.0

MNy wife and I stayed here for three days. We could not be happier. The only problem was the air conditioning. We had to move from the first room that we were given due to the intense heat..The air conditioning did not work at all but after we talked to the adiministration they promptly chaged us to another room where the air conditioning was perfect. The only problem is that the air conditioning was available only in the dormitory. The other room had only a fan and it did get a little hot at times. The air conditioning units could use replacement for sure. We also had problems with the door lock but after some serious complaining they put a new one on. The one thing that this place has that is unbetable is the friendliness of the staff--the manager was more than accomodating, firnedly and available. As far as I am concerned, Tomas the manager, is now a friend and I plan to to stay in touch with him as well as some other people in the staff. If you do not want to drive (we had a car--)it is perfect. Not in town but a very short walking distance from the town of Cabarete. Cabarete, in my opinion (and I know the country well) is one of the best little towns around. And I would stay away from Sosua and Puerto Plata unless you want to be exposed to some of the unsavory characters that are abundant in those towns. No such thing in Cabarete. I highly recommend this place.

"condition of hotel, friendliness of personell"

6.0

the maintenance of the hotel rooms is somewhat poor.A/C not working,no water out of faucet, lose door knobs etc. The female personell at the reception borders on being rude. The breakfast is marginal. No shelter from the fierce winds unless you go back to your room.(or kite board)

"Kite Beach Hotel"

8.0

Even though some of the rooms of the hotel was a little beaten up, I had a great time. The lobby and grounds though are well-kept and it is certainly right on the beach! There are two buildings and I moved from the new building to the old building with a better view the second night. The room I stayed in most of the time was smaller, but with a nice balcony. It needed some fixing up - the faucet dripped, the shower curtain was ripped, the door to the balcony was a bit rusty and the cabinets/drawers stuck. But it was clean and there was hot water. The environment and vibe of the hotel is great. The food was good and inexpensive (even though it cost a little bit more than more local places). The area is right on kite beach, in between two kiteboarding schools and hotels. Most people were kiting, I instead did some training with a MMA fighter at the gym next door. But people were friendly and you could walk along the beach about two miles to Cabarete Village. It was nice to actually be a little bit away from the village proper. It was quieter at night. Depends on what you want. The staff was super helpful and nice. [...] manages and does reservations. She is helpful and friendly always. [...], [...] and others who work at the bar/restaurant are always nice and fun to talk to. There are also more permanent guests who have bought condos in the complex who are really nice and have great suggestions on places to go out to or things to do in the area.

"Kite Beach Hotel"

6.0

I felt the pictures I saw of the hotel were a little misleading. I would like to say though the location & staff could not be faulted in any way, but the room had seen better days. I purposely booked an apartment for the kitchen facilities but was completely underwhelmed by the missing fridge, no kettle or toaster, no microwave or oven, let alone a plug for the sink, but found it completely laughable that there wasn't any knobs to control the only 2 rings on the hob. We were told at checking that they don't keep crockery, pans or cutlery in the apartment but if we asked they could supply them - as I paid extra for an apartment I don't know why they couldn't just have it in there ready for my convenience. There were a few other bits missing which were listed on the website like a phone, alarm clock & hair dryer. It would have been great to unpack my clothes but the wardrobes (although present & nice & big) didn't have any rails or hangers so were completely pointless. The room cleaners did a great job every day but most of the apartment could have done with a general overhaul & some bits were looking a bit tired & grotty. I don't consider myself a fussy person but I really don't think the price we paid was reflected in the standard of apartment we got. It would have been really useful if on the website it had stated the pictures showing were mainly of the new (more expensive) part of the hotel. Some of the apartments in the complex looked a lot nicer than the one I stayed in but I think that depends on whether the person who owns it has done anything with it. I did have a fabulous time at Kite Beach & my holiday was not ruined but I have travelled quite a bit & I usually choose a more budget accommodation than what I have just paid & have been more than happy but I did feel like I may have been paying for quantity rather than quality with this one.
