Matsui Bekkan Hanakanzashi

Felt truly special. We were welcomed at the hotel with tea and sweets, the room was spacious and beautiful in the traditional japanese style. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and the location is very central. Highly recommended.

One of the very best stays of my life. What an experience. I never slept so well in my entire life. The futons were so comfortable. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. We were superbly welcomed and cared for during our stay. The onsen was very nice. The location was perfect, so central. The room was very big. The amenities were incredible. We felt really pampered and special. We loved the history, the decoration, the atmosphere. The little shop was very nice and I wish I had purchased more souvenirs from there as they were authentic, local and ended up being very good value when compared with other places we went to. The breakfast was an entire ceremony in its own right.

The only downside was the breakfast was not western kid friendly. As adults, we loved getting a very typical Japanese breakfast and it was amazing, so nicely prepared, with generous portions and so many different things to try. But the kids had a hard time. Fish, pickled vegetables, tofu and mini dried sardines for breakfast were too big of an ask for westerner children. They ended up only eating rice and seaweed. It would be good to include a few European options for children. There was only tea for drinks too, no milk or fruit juice.

The place is nice and quiet, the staff is kind and very helpful.

Everything was great. We stayed in 5 separate hotels during our Japan trip and this was easily the most memorable. They cleaned our shoes during dinner service which was exceptionally awesome.

The property was great, if I had to be critical on one thing it would be the onsen. The onsen itself was great I just wish it had a cold water tub and a dry sauna. Other than that it was a really nice property.
