How the staff accused me of smoking in the room when they clearly seen me go back and forth outside to smoke . They just wanted to keep my deposit

I stay at this hotel often when my travels take me to the Richmond area, due to its combination of convenience and cost. However, on all of my recent stays, I have found things in my room that were broken or not working correctly, or just a bit worn out. These are things that should be noticed by the housekeeping crew, reported, and fixed before putting a customer into the room. The desk always says they don't have maintenance people at the hotel. I have also noticed recently that when I check in, I am assigned to a lesser room than what I selected when making my reservation.

I only stayed one night but it was a pleasurable stay

Comfortable bed, clean, nice staff. Would encourage manager to add a USB port in the room, but that was the only thing missing. Would recommend.

I have stayed at this hotel many times, but have noticed a gradual decline in the general condition of the property. On this stay, the bathroom sink water only produced a weak trickle when the knob was fully on (took half a minute to fill a small water cup. The shower head was on a hose but the wall bracket was missing. They don't have in-site maintenance, but someone jury-rigged a different fixed shower head but the water sprayed on the ceiling instead of down. The rest of my room was fine, but lobby area has a strong "evil" smell to it.
