"Ok"

6.0

We were there for one night only which might explain why we had a room with no view at all. Bed was not very comfortable. Good full breakfast. Not many options for eating. Restaurant adjacent to hotel was pricy and not very good. Nice fall to walk to close by. Good location between Dublin and Antrim Coast.

"Inconsistent Service - Mostly Very Good"

8.0

Mostly excellent, but some members of staff ignored us and other customers, especially when the minor celeb staying at the hotel (an author) was in the room. Most staff were very friendly and some went beyond the call of duty to make people welcome, but not all. Our booking had not been sent to the Hotel, fortunately they are used to this and honoured my printed booking. Breakfast was also inconsistent, ignoring our requests and cooking eggs "the usual way" (again, the celeb was in the room and I think our requests were not even noted). I wonder if the well-known author paid more to get that level of attention. Or just happened to be recognised. Bistro food was excellent and the only option on a Sunday evening, as the main restaurant is closed at that time. Food & drink prices very reasonable.

"Great little town"

Lovely old world hotel, not the most modern, but with very friendly, helpful staff.

"Lovely old building, but poor food and service"

4.0

Often hard to find staff to serve us, staff were polite but not friendly and didn't really seem interested in their guests. The rooms were spacious and the building lovely. It just felt a bit tatty round the edges. The food we had in the bistro seemed like reheated leftovers and although there was lots of choice at breakfast the full Irish appeared to have been all deep fried. With such a magnificent building it could have been do much better.
