Shiv Niwas Palace by HRH Group of Hotels

If you have a sense of history, this is most definitely the hotel for you. A stunning building oozing history set in the grounds of the City Palace. Spectacular artefacts adorn this lavish hotel. We had a sumptuous room with a lake terrace...and spectacularly beautiful views. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the level of service at the hotel was quite exceptional. A novel bonus was that you could be taken to different parts of the palace complex by complimentary buggy if you so desired.

The Property as in whole is very beautiful and very perfectly located…which in Old City Limits…

We paid more than INR.20,000/- per night for stay and we were offered a very average room with LOTS & LOTS of not needed furniture in the room which made the room very cluttered and uncomfortable to stay… also we were given room no.38 which has absolutely no view & privacy at all….. and most importantly there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom which made the us to wait for every use…

The property is currently in shambles with ongoing construction and repairs, making the stay highly uncomfortable. The room charges were astronomical compared to the quality of services offered. Apart from its proximity to the City Palace, the hotel offers no real advantage. Rooms are poorly ventilated, almost suffocating, and while the staff were polite, they lacked any real authority or decision-making ability. We had booked the stay with breakfast included, but upon arrival were informed otherwise. Additionally, the rates on Booking.com as well as on the hotel’s own platforms kept fluctuating, which raises questions about transparency and pricing integrity. It gave the impression that customers were being misled, with inflated rates for facilities that do not justify the cost. We ended up cancelling the booking after just one day and moved to The Lalit Hotel at Fateh Sagar, where we paid nearly 30% less for a far superior experience with breakfast included..

My suggestion to both Booking.com and Shiv Niwas is to ensure transparent pricing and prevent overpricing that misleads customers. If such practices continue, it will erode customer trust and credibility in both the platform and the hotel.

The room was very large and is literally adjacent to where the king lives, the museum and the ferry pier to go to Jagmandir Island. I stayed here as a novelty being a James Bond fan. Obviously there is serious security around the area, so I always felt safe no matter what time of day/night it was.

The standard room literally has NO windows looking out to anything except the small terrace at the entrance. Even the terrace is surrounded at all sides with high walls. For the price, I would have thought even a small view to a garden would have been there. Better off staying in another newer hotel if you want to pay comparative prices with newer and better amenities.
