A hotel that relies on solar power in monsoon. There were a handful of guests at the hotel. At the time of checkin, I asked the guy if they have 24/7 hot water. He was affirmative. In the morning, no hot water. The reason. Guests used up solar hot water by 6am and left. Now back to 70s. Lodge sends hot water to each room for Re.1 Dependency on solar. In bangalore. During monsoon. And they say they are a upscale hotel

Bangalore Gate was a very comfortable stay. I was in Bangalore for a day in between travel, and stuck looking for a hotel at 4am to spend the day (my previous hotel had cancelled at the last minute). Initially Bangalore Gate said they were full and could only check me in at 12pm. So I found a public place to hang out in the meantime. Then they themselves called me at 7am saying that a guest had checked out early and they're ready for me! They charged a not-unreasonable fee for early check-in, and I paid it - it still made all the difference for me on a difficult day.. The porter was very helpful in getting all my heavy luggage to the room. The free breakfast was delicious, and the room was comfortable. They also sent up a decent meal through room service. Not too much else to say about the stay itself, except the it got the job done neatly and comfortably.

The price was somewhat high, but I had to book at the last minute possible, and apparently there was also a big event that weekend filling up the hotels, so it's understandable I guess.
