Holiday Inn Express DeFuniak Springs by IHG

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Defuniak Springs by IHG almost a week ago, my goal was to check in (I had my dog with me), grab a bite to eat locally, walk my pup in a safe location, relax and enjoy my evening before checking out in the morning and continuing my trip back home. Most of my goal was achieved. I liked the fact that there were many guests, perhaps more workers coming in/out of the area than families, but it gave me a sense of security having people around. The exterior of the hotel was clean, and the parking lot was set up so that guests with larger vehicles had ample space to park in the back. There was a gazebo and a small, wooded area, nice for sitting outside for a bit or walking your dog and not bothering any other guests while doing so. There was a "Poop" post towards the back with ample waste bags. The size of the room and bathroom were sufficient. I had a king size room but was given the handicap accessible room which I didn't need but it would seem suitable for anyone with a handicap. The bathroom had a shower chair; there was a doorbell and two peepholes. One located at wheelchair height. The decor was average, what you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express. The room was clean and had sufficient towels. The neighboring area was off the main road, so it was quiet, and I was able to sleep. My chief complaints are that the fridge never got cold, my beverages were barely kept cool and the air conditioning never cooled off my room completely. It wasn't humid in the room, but it was not to my satisfaction. I did not report it to staff as I was so exhausted from the drive I had I was just looking forward to getting home within the next couple days. I was there just to relax and get some sleep. The lobby was clean and there were fresh cookies at the front desk. Gabriel checked us in, and he was very friendly and helpful. The overall impression of the hotel is it is a cookie cutter place to have a clean room and accommodations for a night or two. The bed and pillows were not firm enough for my comfort level, but I made do. There is a desk area and sufficient lighting in the room. Thank you, Holiday Inn Express Defuniak Springs by IHG for a decent overnight stay. I hope that maintenance will be checking on the fridge as well as air conditioning in all of the rooms as the Summer has only begun. Thank you.

It was ok

Bathroom tub would not drain. Had to shower in ankle deep water. Checked in too late to deal with it on a one night stay. Carpet coming into the room was horribly stained and desperately needed cleaning. Hallways were dirty and needed to be vacuumed. We have stayed here many times in the past but it is doubtful we will stay again.

Excellent customer service

Beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Extremely loud, inconsiderate, rude people down the hall on third floor. They came in late, about 11:00 PM as we were already in bed. Called front desk and they said they would check on it. About an hour and a half later the rowdy’s finally shut up.

This is always my go to hotel when I visit Defuniak Springs, check in is always speedy. Rooms are always fresh & clean. And let’s not forget how I love the shower head!! Overall always a pleasant & safe stay!!!
