Arathena Rocks Hotel

The location is excellent. Easily accessible by car and no issue with parking. This hotel is right on the water and within walking distance of the small town centre. I gave it a rating of 3 stars as it is a tired hotel. If the owners would put some money into it, this hotel could easily become a 5 star resort!! Dinner was a set menu. Not impressed with the quality of the food considering the Sicilian food we’ve come accustomed to. Our room was in the 3rd floor (corner) and we had a spectacular view from our balcony!!! Highly recommend room 303. We got a view of both Mount Etna and the ocean. The bed was cozy and clean. The washroom was efficient and clean. There is a safe and a small fridge in the room. Very quiet area (May-not high season) There is an old style elevator that is slow but gets the job done. The pool area was in need of an upgrade. Pool is NOT heated. Many of the lounge chairs have seen better days. They charge $3 euros a day for a towel. No bar service at the pool . At least we never saw anyone offering drinks). Staff were friendly and pleasant.

We spent a fantastic week at Arathena Rocks. The hotel is well placed for some lovely walks, fantastic scenery, very accessible but tucked away so a nice quiet environment but with access to nightlife with a short easy walk. The room was large and very clean, large comfortable bed with ensuite and a private patio with view of the sea and Etna (room on side of property). This gave part sun but also shade in heat of the day. We were half board. The breakfast was mix of hot and cold buffet, good quality and fresh. You csn squeeze your own orange juice. Tangy and delicious! The evenings meal starts with unlimited homemade soup, and range of salads. Then two courses, usually involving fish, pasta, pork. We enjoyed almost all of them. Then a sweet of Italian cake or pannacota. We were delighted to find, when we arrived very late on the first day, Manuela had organised a cold plate for us, unexpected, so we didn't go to bed hungry. She has been an excellent help during our stay. Lastly, Pietro, who waits on, is smashing. He cannot do enough to help, works extremely hard but always has a smile and friendly greeting, plus good local advice. We couldn't ask for any more from a holiday.

We went for our Honeymoon and were treated to a fantastic stay! The hotel is quirky, with so much lovely traditional Sicilian decor/ornaments, it has a great position tucked away nicely but a very short walk from the beautiful harbour area which includes stunning views of Mount Etna. Fantastic view over the bay from the seaview rooms. Staff couldn't do enough for us, even keeping some food back for us after we arrived at 10pm on the Sunday. Food was great all week. Highly recommeded, especially for those seeking a quiet and relaxed getaway. Thank you Arathena!

Very nice, spacious room with a good conditioner and excellent blinds. We had a corner room and it was super silent and comfy. Good location, close to the city centre? but very quite. Beautiful views.

Outdated furniture and infrastructure, outdated pool and sunbeds. Breakfast offer could be better, a few fresh fruits or vegetables, not tasty at all. Entry in the sea not usable in most times as placed in a spot where waves get very high, unsafe to go into the sea there.

Hotel was much better than expected. We had a corner suite with a patio and a small balcony. View was spectacular! Bed and pillows comfortable. Breakfast was good and fixed price dinner for 20 euros was a bargain and quite good. Only complaint, the safe in the room was on the floor of closet. You had to go on your stomach to read the numbers and no instructions how to use it.

Unfortunately our flight to Catania was cancelled because of Mount Etna erupting. When I tried to inform the hotel that we would not be able to come and we would need a refund, the lady on the phone was extremely rude and helpful. She told me that there was nothing she was able to do so what did she want me to do and that I needed to speak to lastminute.com to resolve the issue. Both the hotel and last minute kept blaming one another and saying we should talk to the opposite party. She gave me a number to an another man that said exactly the same response. We were coming to Naxos to sort out our wedding plans and was hoping that most of our wedding party would stay at this hotel, unfortunately that will not be happening now as we still have not had a refund and I was extremely unimpressed with Elisa the lady from the hotel who I spoke to on the phone. I would be embarrassed to have someone like her representing and answering calls for my company.

Excellent hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, really good facilities especially pool area and gardens. Good continental style breakfasts, super fried eggs, good lunch menu , great salads. Reasonable prices for bar.

We spent a very relaxing week at the Arathena Rocks Hotel. The staff are all friendly and helpful, the food was good and the place was spotless. The location is on the edge of this busy little tourist town, which has lots of places to eat and lots of opportunities for day trips. Taormina is a short bus ride away; we visited twice.
