Creta Palm Hotel

The hotel is good, but its not a hotel for couples or friends looking for an escape as it is really set up for families. There is only one pool and its much smaller than it looks in the photos. And was always half fill with kids, which was entertaining but not relaxing. The rooms were great, large and clean. Also the staff were very helpful.

Lovely place for a relaxing holiday. Hotel itself is very good, with big rooms, two nice pools and reasonable food. Other guests mainly well-behaved Scandinavians - no louts! Pavlos behind the pool bar is a great laugh and a great asset for the hotel - reception staff a little grumpy. More broadly, it's a great location for exploring western Crete: bus stop outside and 15 mins into central Chania. Supermarket opposite and pharmacy 100m away. Beach over the road and down slipway. Massive selection of tavernas nearby, as well as car hire places and excursion providers. Thoroughly recommended and will go back.

I have just returned from a weeks stay at Creta palm, Hania. The hotel was very easy to find and provided free on site parking. The rooms were clean and spacious and included a fridge and a two ring hob. The shower leaks very badly! Wifi costs extra, but pool towels are available. Breakfast is lovely. Plentiful and varied. All staff are very friendly and polite. There are a few shops and restaurants within walking distance and the beach is behind the shops opposite. There is no private beach and there is a cost for sun beds. We ate lunch at the pool bar which was lovely and very good value.

Arrived expecting a sea view room (as booked through Expedia), but we were put in an apartment which was rather dark and lacking any sun exposure due to surrounding complex buildings. Receptionist was more than happy to offer us an alternative which had morning sun, and the room was light, spacious and well maintained. The hotel is separated from the beach by a row of buildings and the street, so decent sea views are not available. This is more for Expedia's benefit rather than the hotel as we were specifically asked if we wanted a sea view room when we booked. You could just about glimpse the sea over roof tops. But the walk across the road to the beach is literally seconds, and it is a nice clean sandy beach. Unruly late night students were staying at the time, but they were out during the day and it was lack of supervision from their school teachers at night rather than a hotel staff issue. Indeed, the receptionist did warn us of their presence. Food was very good, restaurant staff were very attentive, and bar staff very friendly. Free wifi is provided. Parking is available but limited if coaches are present, but plenty of street parking available. There are plenty of local mini supermarkets and restaurants, not all were open during our stay in April but I guess they are during high season. Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Creta Palm.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. It is clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was serviced daily with clean towels and toiletries. We were travelling with both children and an elderly relative and this hotel suited all of us. We did not eat at the hotel in the evenings but the pool bar menu had a good choice, was very nice, and reasonably priced. Breakfast was included in our room rate and offered a good choice of food every day. A range of hot foods, cold meats and cheeses, a good selection of fruits and yogurts and the usual toast, croissants fruit breads etc. The children loved the pancakes with chocolate sauce or honey.

We stayed there during early June and had a great time. It would be a good place for a family to take holiday and is within walking distance of many places to eat and stores.

Good hotel. Stayed for 10 days from 24th Aug to 3rd Nov. Unfortunately it was at the end of the season so it was scaling down operations . We did manage to experience one night of entertainment which was really good fun. On the up side we pretty much had the pool and sun beds to ourselves! Can't speak highly enough about the staff, everyone we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. We were booked for bed and breakfast which was ok, wasn't my cup of tea but I don't generally enjoy foreign buffet breakfasts wherever I go to be honest . Rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels and bed linen. Hotel across the road from a beach , not the best beach I've visited. A few shod and restaraunts in the local vicinity but most were closed while we were there. It's about 15 mins into Chania town €1.60 on the bus if you could get one, something else which was scaled back. Taxi approx €12. Had an issue with the wifi , couldn't connect in our room and kept dropping out in bar area. Had to put in codes whenever you wanted to connect. Totally useless trying to watch anything on the iPad . Fortunately downloaded some things on I player before we come out! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return. Probably rate it 3* .

Stayed overnight prior to flight home. There is a main road and a taverna between the hotel & the beach, I had expected it to be "on the beach". If staying for longer, would have been disappointed. View of ocean was "between the buildings" - more a glimpse than a view! Room - double bed, firm (OK for us) with nice but small balcony. Bathroom satisf. No probs with shower leaking like previous reviewer. Breakfast included was fine, with fresh omelette cooked while waiting + usual hot/cold buffet style bits - quite acceptable. Wifi was included, but description varied, and am not sure, had I not queried this, would it have been free. Safety box cost 3 euro for one night. iPad just fits, laptop wouldn't. Car parking - small area in front of hotel, other spots (some under cover) available and closer to our appt (right at back of complex). Not many English voices, didn't try evening meal as taverna opposite was more attractive menu and was excellent (on the beach too!!). Took fair time to get to airport - half an hour++ even with only moderate traffic - thought would be quicker. All in all, fine for a stopover, prob would have been disappointed for longer. Pleasantly surprised with modern clean 4 Star plus Hotel. Staff is experienced and willing to go that little extra for guests. Hotel should eliminate fee (15 euros) a week for inroom safe. Variety for buffet breakfast has room for improvement. For myself, I had a wondeful stay. Beach is a one minute walk across the street from the hotel.In hotel entertanement several times a week. Rooms are large and clean.For me the Creta Palm is a winner!

I spent 10 days in Creta Palm Resort with my boyfriend and we had the most wonderful time! The resort is even more beautiful than the pictures, wonderful location, pool is really nice, beach is just across the street.... I would definitely recomend this hotel to anyone. The only thing they might consider working on is the maids being loud in the morning when they are cleaning the rooms. They talk to each other across the hall every morning and so sleeping in was a hard task to accomplish. Everything else made up for it though and I'm very satisfied with this hotel. Also, food in all the restaurants close to this hotel were fantastic. Staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. I would definitely go back there again if I had a chance. Vacation to remember!
