Plantation Island Resort

The resort has a fantastic island vibe and a relaxed, authentic Fiji atmosphere. The kids' club was excellent and kept our children entertained with plenty of activities. The pool and facilities at Tavola were our favourite place to spend the day, especially relaxing on the large square daybeds. Walking through the island to the secluded private beaches felt like stepping into a postcard—beautiful white sand, crystal-clear water, and some of the most picturesque scenery Fiji has to offer. We loved the nanny concept. The nannies are paid directly in cash, so the money goes straight to them rather than through the resort. They take on nanny shifts during their days off or outside of their regular working hours, which is a fantastic way for them to earn some extra income while providing a great service to guests.

It would be great to see the resort add a gym facility. We spoke with several other guests during our stay who mentioned they would also make use of one, so we think it would be a valuable addition. The kids' pool with the waterslide could also use some attention. During our stay it wasn't particularly clean and wasn't a very pleasant area to relax while watching the kids. Unfortunately, it was the pool our children always wanted to use because of the slide, so we found ourselves spending a lot of time there.

There is so much to like about Plantation Island resort - But I will have to start with the staff! The staff here are absolutely wonderful and are what really make this place a great holiday destination for adults and kids alike. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and appear to go above and beyond expectations to give guests the ultimate holiday experience. This comes with a special mention to Izzy who not only entertained us at the evening events - but also taught us about Fijian culture, indigenous plants and their healing purposes and even taught us some Fijian language! The food was great at all the venues we ate at - with something to satisfy every member of the family. There were enough facilities and free activities to keep us entertained throughout the stay. The snorkeling at the end of the jetty was absolutely spectacular - showing us something new nearly every day.

Loved the staff and vibe. Amazing location. Upgraded are really good. Food much better than last time which makes a difference. Watersports available is great and the floating on too. Was a hit with the kids.

Beds were really hard and so I didn’t sleep well. The room needed some refreshing with a few broken tiles in the bathroom and the room floor tiles were broken in parts also.

The overall vibe is fantastic. Great place to take kids. The bula bikes are awesome - biking around makes it feel like you’re on holiday. The range of restaurants, pools and activities to do is good. Staff are cheerful and helpful. Snorkelling was okay - not the best but still a wide range of fish to be seen. Boat trips to local reefs, other islands and sand spits can be booked which are worthwhile.

Our door lock broke at one point and it took a full day (and night) to fix. Luckily we could access our room through our neighbours room, who we knew, but it wasn’t ideal.

- Not knowing until we got there that most restaurants had booked out for dinners and could tell some people were double booking. - Not enough bikes to hire on the island ( there's only 2 baby seats to attach to bikes on the hole island)

Location is beautiful

Not sure where to begin ! Firstly, we had no hot water, a leaking roof and an air conditioner remote that did not work. Housekeeping only comes every second day and the rooms get so dirty with sand / dirt cleaning is needed every day. Also no ventilation in the bathroom for towels to dry so not replacing towels is horrible. Rooms are ill equipped, no glasses, supplies or basic utensils / ammenities so impossible to keep rooms clean yourself. Pools and playgrounds are old and run down, food is average. I had read reviews about staff being outstanding and whilst there were some lovely staff members, majority we came across will complete task at hand, never going above or beyond and I would really not consider them helpful. Travelled with a small baby and even sourcing washing liquid to clean bottles was difficult (tried to purchase first but the shop didn’t stock and then apparently the restaurants had ‘run out’). Everything is extremely overpriced. $13 for a packet of chips at the shop is just taking advantage ! Charge the price of a luxury resort when it’s really just a poor caravan park. If it was half the price maybe but at $800 a night it’s absolutely not worth it.

Amazing view from the beachfront hotel room. Feels like 5 star quality compared to resorts at the mainland. We are a family with two children 3,6 and there was plenty of room, close to restaurants and activities. Great food, would recommend booking restaurants before you arrive and bikes. Food was excellent lots of choice and plenty of activites. Adults dinner at Lomani at the resort next door was amazing too.

Had to book restaurants in advance and hard to get baby bike seats and small kids bikes. Would love to be able to ride around the whole island
