W Minneapolis - The Foshay

Very Clean and very cool atmosphere

No garbage bag , no microwave

Foshay is always superb, however we lost power in our room at 2 a.m.

Anything Anytime? Not at the W Minneapolis. Four weeks prior to my arrival, I called and made a few simple requests. First, that the alcohol and all the other minibar items be removed from the room and second to request a late check out. The phone representative assured me that the minibar items would be removed and that they would note a late checkout. Once I arrived, I asked about my late check out request. The front desk didn't know anything about it. Furthermore, they immediately denied the request in the smarmiest manner imaginable. Very rude and incredibly frustrating. When I get into my room, what is the first thing I see? A bottle of wine on the minibar. The minibar was also fully stocked, against my very simple request. The pervasive stench of Manny's kitchen during dinner times wafted throughout the hotel's HVAC system. This was quite an unpleasant surprise. Manny's is on street level. Why could I still smell their kitchen on the 18th floor? Finally, the linens in the room were full of holes and virtually threadbare. The decor is somewhat swanky, but the lack of basic amenities do not make the decor a saving grace for this hotel. Save your money and stay someplace nice.

much of the lobby was under construction, and the observation deck was closed. None of that was disclosed when we booked the property specifically to go on the observation deck.

I have stayed at plenty of W hotels and know what to expect. This W did not really deliver. From the get go the lobby/bar area was being renovated, which I get and did not factor in. The check in was not good. Arrived early, told to come back around noon and room would be ready. Came back at 12:30 still not ready, waited till 1:40 and went and asked. Still not ready then said they could put us into accessible room. Ok just wanted a room for 2 nights. Said they upgraded me to corner room, it was so not an upgrade as electronic blinds did not work , a/c did kept shutting off, shower head holder was broken and room was a bit of a disappointment. Expect more than this from W hotel brand. They did fix blinds when I said something.

2 elevators were out of order. Each time we left the hotel it took forever to get to our floor.
