The Vesper

Easy check in. Room was modest but bed was comfortable. It was the last room in the inn and used a bathroom across the hall but it was a private bathroom.

Alway want more protein in a breakfast. Could be simple, hard boiled eggs, some meet and cheese with nice bread. Would not take much.

Good location with free parking a bonus . Lovely well thought out breakfast . Lovely designed room. Jessica the Host is very kind and friendly

When we checked in we were given the wrong

Very limited breakfast. Cold oatmeal. It would be more enjoyable if you keep politics out of the rooms…

The location is great, you are a really short walk into the main town which is just beautiful. Great to have free, on-site parking and we're used to self-check in as we use similar accommodation styles. The rooms were lovely and common areas (lounge especially) is a delight, so much work has gone into this and we did have a good, quiet evening to catch up on our reading. Breakfast was nice, good tea and coffee. Mainly the plus point is the location and it being a good stop on the VT100 route.

Not knowing if the bathroom was for our use only or if we were sharing with others. I had to read through our booking a few times to find out. A note or sign would have helped, even just to give some reassurance. There was no ventilation in the room and when I tried to open the window (sash and case) it kept falling down again so had to prop open with the tissue box. No sign of the hosts/staff at all until morning when at 6.30am there was a lot of clattering around the kitchen below us, waking us up. We came down the stairs and two people were at the dining table, who I assumed were guests so I said "morning" and got a lukewarm response. Only realised they were hosts/staff when they went into the kitchen and started to gossip and complain about something or someone quite loudly with no consideration that we were sitting there. Very uncomfortable and we finished up and left. Found it really weird that they didn't say a word of welcome at the start so that we knew who was a guest and who was a host. To be honest, quite glad to be leaving quickly and we paid a fair amount of money only to feel like an inconvenience for them.

Woodstock was wonderful as always, and the location of The Vesper cannot be beat. Although, we felt the experience was fairly mediocre. Dated and small bathrooms, no climate control whatsoever, limited breakfast and hours, no screens in windows and loud on a busy street when they are open. Won’t be revisiting.
