"A truly upsetting and disappointing stay for the money involved."

7.0

There are many positives so long as you get a place/unit that is properly cared for by the owners. Ours wasn't. The actual place and location is truly beautiful. The manager and staff are very helpful. The gardens are delightful and the ground staff very pleasant and focused. The BBQ was spotless. The electrical equipment in the unit worked well but the actual function as a place to stay, sleep and eat comfortably did not. My negative comments, below, relate to two rooms apparently privately owned and sub-standard for the money involved.

We had Unit 29a for 6 nights and 29b for 3. The cost was astronomical for what we arrived to see. 29a cost $1,849.74 and 29b. $775.71. A massive $2625.45. Compared to other accommodation providers locally, who we started speaking to, we were not happy with what we were provided compared to what they were offering. The website pictures to advertise MangoLagoon may be mostly accurate but for our unit, they cannot show the wear and tear. What we had was poor. The photos speak for themselves. A main bed and day bed that had deteriorating mattresses. The main bed was covered in an ancient foam. Likely decades of people sleeping on them. A health hazard and uncomfortable. The photos are of 29a. There were very few items to use. We were there 6 nights and ended up taking our food to the BBQ in 2 frypans as there were no platters. The available plates were already doubling up for an entree and meal for our family. There were 2 steel bowls (one enormous and one small), utensils that were broken or old, nothing to present a nice meal like china serving platters, no baking dishes, no placemats, no coasters. The list goes on. The grout on the floor tiles was black but it's light in un-walked areas. It needs a good clean; years of build-up. The dining chairs had a big sinking hole but they were still better than sitting on the couches that stank of body odour. The staff tried to clean them but the material is too dense and should be washable. We threw a clean blanket over the couch to try to make the smell better but I still ended up on the dining chairs as they could be wiped down. I asked for some money back but I doubt that will happen.

"A quiet paradise, close to everything by walking.. The tavern, restaurants, ice-cream shop, the beach and supermarket,"

10.0

To begin with, Matt went out of his way to find us the best room to fit our needs. It was perfect. Carolynne was also very helpful at reception. The location was ideal and only a short walk to pub, restaurants, beach and supermarket. The 50c bus and bus stop to Cairns was nearby so we went into cairns on 2 separate days.

There was nothing we didn't like😜

"Shame we had two of the poorly furnished units."

7.0

The Manager and staff are lovely and helpful. The grounds are really beautiful and very well tended. We needed a unit with 2 rooms. The rooms we were allocated are owned privately and are in a furniture time warp. The electrical equipment was good.

The Units 29a and 29b cost us nearly $2700 for 3 nights in 29b and 6 nights in 29a. The mattresses are appalling, the couch stank of stale BO and the chairs at the table had pits in them. We are all small or standard sizes but still literally sank in to them. Cushions helped but they were thin and old. The staff at the complex had a go at the BO but it’s strong so we covered the couch with a newly supplied blanket. I could still smell it. There were virtually no kitchen bowls, no platters, broken or old serving implements. We actually only had frypans to carry food to the bbq as the 6 plates were being used for starters. It was a terrible expense for so little.

We loved our stay. We had a two bedroom unit. It was perfect for our family of 5. We were able to have an extra bed. Loved the variety of pools and location to Palm Cove Cafe's and Restaurants.
