Ocean Beauty

We booked the hotel for 4 nights. When we arrived there very nice girl broulght us to the room. The room was very nice and we were pleased, but... In a minute she informed us that she made a mistake and we should to move to another one, similar. No problem. We haven't unpacked yet... We moved, but in 2 or 3 minutes, she knocked on a door and said that she had made a mistake and we had to move again. We moved and our new room was absolutely different - small, dark, smelly - they call it deluxe and boutique! We were not satisfied, but what could we do? It was fully paid and unrefundable. The hotel itself is lovely. It has its own beach, you can have breakfast by the ocean and selection of dishes is pretty good. Staff is very friendly. So you can stay there, just don't book deluxe room.

It's disappointing, really, when you visit such a beautiful place and yet feel so unwelcome. The receptionist is the main problem - disinterested, bored, tired, and hostile, she tarnished our whole experience. I was traveling with my mom, who has limited mobility, yet her lack of concern or empathy was palpable. The breakfast did not live up to the delightfully sophisticated menu - a "fresh fruit platter" consisted or two bruised bananas and 6 slices of pineapple, for example, and the "order from our bakery selection of croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin" etc actually could only deliver to slices of plain white toast that were crisped to cardboard. And what kind of Mauritian kitchen runs out of chillies, one of the stated ingredients for the Mauritian omelette? All of this smacks of poor or no management, staff who are untrained or untrained. The setting is sublime, the pool and ocean setting blissful, the rooms well-resourced and comfortable. The basics are there, but this beauty lacks grace and is unwelcoming. I'd give it a huge miss if I were you. There are so many other fish in the sea, hotels in the area.

The hotel is 6 years old and needs a few minor renovating touches. However, the gardens are lovely with a very nice pool and it is right on the beach. It is so close to the lovely sea that the pool is nearly redundant. The service is extremely good. The breakfast is very good (we had it on our big room balcony, but they will also serve it in the garden if requested) and every thing is cooked freshly to order, but perhaps a bit short on variety. The rooms are very big and comfortable; ours had a side room with a single bed and a cot. The bathroom is big and has an enormous walk in shower. There are only 9 rooms. I don't think that the rooms with sea view are an advantage. However, choose the upstairs rooms as they have higher ceilings and appear roomier. All the staff are very helpful and accommodating and made us very welcome. The whole atmosphere is... relaxation! We had a fantastic time and will recommend anyone to have sometime there.
