The atmosphere of this hotel was much more in line with what I personally look for, especially in terms of architectural character and overall vibe. Koh Samui was a wonderful island to visit, and I honestly do not think there is a truly bad location on the island, since most places feel relatively accessible. If I return to Samui and want a private pool villa again, this is a hotel I would seriously consider. The restaurant was also very good.

The hotel is positioned at a relatively high price point, but at first we felt it was justified by the overall experience. Unfortunately, that impression changed at check-out. In some of the most luxurious beach clubs in Phuket, beer was priced around 200–240 baht, so being charged 500 baht for two bottles of water felt excessive. This was the main reason I reduced my rating. The daily credit of 500–1000 baht was also not enough in practice. We stayed for three days, dined at the hotel on only two evenings, and still had to pay extra

Our pool villa was amazing and we were so happy with the location and view. We were able to check in several hours earlier which we really appreciated. Everything in the minibar is complementary except the alcohol. The cleaning was incredible. The cleaner was so attentive to our patterns and needs (10 out of 10). Restaurant Star is amazing - so beautiful and they have entertainment every night. Great cocktails also. Unfortunately a bit weather dependent though. The service (and food) at all restaurants was uneven - sometimes great and sometimes not so good. On some occasions it took a very long time to get the food and we were not even acknowledged when we sat down at a table. When I called roomservice and asked for extra towels and hangers the never came, I had to remind them several times. The breakfast was great however (both service and food) - we appreciated that they offered champagne and everything from the a la carte meny was very good.

The beach was a big disappointment. It was full of trash (plastic bottles, old food etc.), disorganized and felt like the hotel really not prioritized it. This was a shame as there was definitely potential. The hotel has been under renovation for a long time and unfortunately the completion date has been moved several times. This was announced very late up on our arrival (only weeks in advance) so we had no chance to book something else. This was a bit of a disappointment but not crucial to our experience. When the weather was bad they moved dinner reservation from Star to their indoor restaurant Moon. The lighting was horrible for dinner - 0 cosy. As the 3rd restaurant was under renovation there were no other choices. The room was very hot when we arrived. Had to ask for an extra keycard (you only get one when you check in) so the AC wouldn't turn off as soon as we left the room. They fixed this immediately but it was a strange system..
