Le Grand Hôtel de l'Espérance

I came to this hotel just because it was on my way driving from Normandy to Paris, and I did not find any other hotel. It turned to be a pleasant stay, and we were pleased. Breakfast was very good. A nice stop on the way, but there is nothing really to do in Lisieux, if you are not looking for the Catholic significance of the place.

The only thing i would change is having a small coffee/tea pot in the room to make a cup in the morning or evening.

Our room was spacious, clean and well-appointed. It was surrounded by a number of restaurants with different menus and price ranges. The breakfast buffet offered in the hotel was wonderful....very extensive. It was also helpful to have the parking garage right next door to the hotel. Overall, a wonderful experience in a very delightful hotel with friendly, helpful, and efficient staff.

Hotel was outstanding! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely-comfortable, clean, quiet, and spacious with good ventilation via windows that opened and a large bathroom with tub. Parking was available across the street as well as in the hotel lot. Both the food and service in their restaurant were great. In addition, we enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast one morning and a full buffet the next.

The hotel is in the center of Lisieux among shopping and a quick uphill walk of five minutes to the shrine.

Stayed en route from a gite in the Loire to the ferry at Le Havre the next morning. Would happily stay there again.Only a brief overnight stop but we enjoyed a good dinner in a nearby restaurant, although most cafes and restaurants were closed or not serving food by 7-00pm on Saturday evening - extraordinary!

Great place, amazing people working there, friendly and kind. The hotel went through a lot of renovations in the past couple of years and it pays off! Restaurant is simply amazing and quite fair on pricing! I would recommend to anyone; business or pleasure!

hotel really good until a coach load of American school kids turned up on second evening, they spoilt our evening meal, were noisy in the night and spoilt breakfast next morning and the staff with them were no better. the hotel staff were very upset and apologetic but offered no refunds

Very nice old hotel in the centre of town. Easy walk to the Cathedral Square and the shopping area.The restaurant was very good and the staff friendly and helpful.

We took the train from CDG after a long flight from the USA, not stopping in Paris. This was our first night's stop. The room was small, clean and comfortable. No frills but got the job done. Breakfast was adequate, cost 11 EUR, good coffee. Perfectly nice stay, not a luxury hotel, but I would go back.
