Old Manse Hotel

We received the warmest of welcomes from Valerie, and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and absolutely delicious! Highly recommended.

Home from home. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Just enough attention without intrusion. Quality decoration, exceptionally clean and comfortable bedroom. Great breakfast selection, made fresh to order. Delicious. Location is ideal for the centre of Pickering (almost) and travelling in this beautiful county.

We have lost count of the times we have stayed at this hotel. Everything is first class from the very warm welcome from Host Valerie, choosing the menu for dinner and subsequently breakfast and then enjoying food of such a high standard. We always say why go out for dinner when such quality is there for the asking. Booked again with friends this time.

Helpful and welcoming staff. Room found on ground floor for us, cup of Yorkshire tea offered on arrival. Good breakfast, to order the night before. Well situated close to centre for NYMR and restaurants. Very quiet situation.

Perfect for what we needed

My sister and I stayed at the Old Manse for 2 nights last weekend to attend a family celebration in the area. On arrival we were met by Valerie who after showing us our room made us a welcome cup of tea with biscuits We stayed in the garden room which was comfortable, just a pity the weather wasn't good enough to enjoy the lovely garden. We also had bathrobes which was unexpected but appreciated. On the first evening we enjoyed a drink in the lounge with some other guests. Breakfast on both mornings was well cooked and plenty of it. All of the staff we met were very friendly, helpful and cheerful from the waiting staff to David who had the misfortune of having to try to mend the light I had broken. The owner Valerie was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay, just a pity we only had two nights.

A 5 star hotel with a 2 star rating. This was our second stay and we hope to return again. The rooms are individually designed and very comfortable,also well appointed. The food is amazing and there is plenty of it!. We had evening meal which saved us having to go out during the evening. The menu was very varied,all local produce and Valerie is an excellent chef. We had the garden room which is excellent for us oldies!! The garden is pleasant to retire to. We simply cannot fault The Old Manse at all. Valerie and her staff are so pleasant and helpful.

We enjoyed a lovely week at The Old Manse. Val and her team are excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were amazing, and we had a gorgeous view from our room. It is a pleasant short walk into Pickering, where you can browse the many shops or catch the steam train to Whitby.

Fantastic B&B in the heart of Pickering. Fantastic freshly cooked breakfast and lovely hosts. Nice clean room with great facilities. We were passing through on motor bikes and there is great secure off street parking. Two minute walk into town. Will definitely stay again.

This was our fourth visit to this wonderful gem of a hotel just outside Pickering town centre. Plenty of parking within the beautiful garden area. It is a small family hotel and the owner, Valerie, is an amazing host and wonderful chef. Plenty of choice on the menus and first-class food. The bedrooms are also super some recently refurbished to the highest standards. Also dog friendly. We have booked again for our next trip.
