The Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre

Probably the worst Hotel I have stayed at for a very long time. The price charged does not match the facilities. Generally the Hotel was dirty and service was non existent. WIFI did not work and no two prong plugs to charge devices. Wanted to charge me a deposit to rent one?

It was most pleasant, the food was excellent at the hotel as well as the restaurant, the service was outstanding and will definately be my first choice of accommodation for my next trip. Since the location is perfect for me, the security was comforting and having an iron and ironing board as well as a hairdrier I hope to be able to stay there again.

It was pleasant, although had to ask for towel.

The Lakes was a convenient spot to stay over before an early am flight out of JNB without spending more for Intercontinental/Sun and getting higher quality than the hotels along the R21.

Hotel currently being extended but building work not intrusive. Clean but a little tired looking and in need of some painting. Advertised as having WiFi but none available we were told that it is not working and were offered access to the reception computer, this proved very inconvenient.

The room was very nice with a beautiful view overlooking the lake. The hotel had a nice retro bar and food was tasty. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I thought generally the hotel was good value for money. The only negative was the lack of a generator during the two hour power cut.

I was quite satisfied with all aspects of the hotel. The included buffet breakfast was quite complete, with many types of fruit, cereals, bread and hot foods. The hotel bar served very reasonably-priced drinks which were enjoyed on the attractive patio which overlooked the lake. The hotel is apparently in the process of updating the bath facilities; my first room had a lovely soaking tub and large separate shower, but the second one had a shower over a standard tub. Beds were comfortable. My only irritation, which I found in common in all three South African hotels in which I stayed, was the interior lighting in the room was too weak for comfortable reading. i would suggest that future guests would benefit by having a car available. There are a number of small shopping areas, restaurants, ATMs which are about a mile away, and I do not think there is public transportation.

We stay only one night at this big hotel, fortunatly. Our room, abit small, views a nice lake that is along a road, so it was a bit noisy. The so called "swimming pool" is about 2,5 meters large and 8 meters long, almost in the parking lots. The is no space for a chair aside the pool. We were disapointed by this hotel because nothing to do in or ouside the hotel when you are just a tourist. The good points of this hotel : you can use a computer room and that they are nice ducks to watch along the lake.
