Wrangham House

Enjoyable and comfortable stay, and very quiet. Dinner requested for the two evenings - lovely food well presented.

Small point but four-poster bed dominated the room and obscured the ceiling pendant light; could have done with a standard double bed.

All good really and the breakfast was very good

Characterful property and room was quite pleasant with comfortable bed.

It was impossible to get any fresh air as the only window was screwed shut. A fan was provided but this was not ideal especially as it was one of the hottest days of the year. There were no rails on which to hang hand or bath towels to dry in the bathroom. There were dead insects on the stair carpets for two days in a row that had not been cleaned up. It would be nice to have the choice of vegetarian sausage/bacon at breakfast.

No message given to us when we handed keys to reception kiosk before heading out for dinner in Filey about doors being locked at 10pm. Nearly got locked out on our return. No info about this on website or messages. No dinner available as no other bookings on night we stayed so had to go into Filey, as only standard pubs in the village. Check before booking if you want to eat at the hotel. Lounge bar was closed on our return at 10pm as all staff off duty by that time. No instructions with coffee pod maker so it overflowed and spilt onto the floor. Would be easy to have a laminated help sheet in the room. Expensive for an en suite room. Yellow double bedroom charming but very steep staircase.

room facilities poor because coffee machine was broken, and sink plug didnt work. Also steep spiral metal staircase very difficult with a suitcase!

Liked: the character of the property and its garden, and its location. The friendliness of the proprietors. The cleanliness, and comfort, of the property and the room.
