The White Hart

We were on the street side and the room had baked in the afternoon sun all afternoon and until 9:30pm. It was so hot we needed to keep the window open which let in all the street noises. The fan simply moved the hot air around. Upon arrival, the reception was very lukewarm but the morning staff were more friendly. Our room in the old part was very tired and worn. The toilet used some kind of ancient plumbing that groaned all of the time.

The availability of breakfast if we wanted it, and we did, the room was clean with just a couple of cobwebs in bathroom. The bed linen was quality and comfortable. The staff were all very good.

Nothing you can do about it other than add fans to the rooms because the heat was stifling and made it difficult to sleep. We stayed on the hottest day of the year and opening the room door at night was like opening the oven door! Maybe heat proof blinds would help?

The hotel was great, it gave me a feeling of being in a movie motel in America with entrances to the rooms on a large balcony facing the road. The bathroom was well sized and there was a table to sit at and eat dinner. Across the road there is a fantastic Indian takeaway which did a good deal for me getting a meal for one rather than a curry and rice separately.

The parking situation was tough, it's very cramped and oftentimes full. Also somebody hit my car on the final night of my stay and never owned up to it, very disappointed in that person.

Room is in the annex behind the pub. Despite a live band playing, the room wasn't noisy. Great meals and staff. Lovely local pub feel. Would definitely stay again.

Parking was a little squeezy but the place was worth it.

Loved the en suite and the products provided. Very clean and comfy.

Room was very very hot. Understand AC wouldn't be an option but even a mini fridge would have been great to have a cold drink!

Metal steps unsafe, cut hand on handrail due to cableties around it. OPEN slop bucket left at bottom of stairs for the 3 days we were there. Trip hazard at top of stairs - felt not fitted to the edge, dirty ashtrays outside room, unsafe railings at top. Big step down into room from front door - fell down as soon as arrived, dusty room, dirty kettle - needed descaling, dirty stained carpet, broken shower door. Ok to go for a drink but wouldn't recommend the restaurant or stopping overnight.
