"Costly Mistake"

6.0

£14 for a ham sandwich and a Peroni….bit steep. Asked for a ham sandwich which seemed to cause some concern as it normally comes with cheese apparently. No, take the cheese off please, I said. Ok. The sandwich arrived with cheese and a small piece of ham hiding below. A smattering of crisps and something formerly salad on the side. But £14….really? I’m local so I know the ropes, tourist area, cost of living etc, but…well, ok, shan’t bother you again.

"Lovely stay"

8.0

Lovely welcome in the hotel , room comfortable and clean. Breakfast was ordered the night before from a menu and was delicious. However I’d have rather ordered in the morning as might have chosen a different option. However very charming and friendly pub . Whole village was so charming and full of character

"Wasn’t outstanding"

6.0

Went for a Sunday roast. The vegetables were boiled and a bit samey. My husband and I both had the pork. Whilst the pork was good, the crackling was over salted. Service was good. The beer glass served was dirty looking so my husband drank from the bottle instead. We didn’t finish our plates so passed on dessert. They rely on a steady stream of visitors to Corfe Castle so don’t have to try too hard and charge more than usual for the standard fare. Overall it was good but not great.

"Stay here!"

8.0

We’ve just returned from a very pleasant 2 night stay at the The Bankes Hotel. The location is perfect overlooking Corfe Castle to the front and the Swanage railway to the rear. Our room was as expected perhaps a little tired but no complaints, the highlight of our stay was the staff especially Wendy who was exceptional at breakfast how lucky you are to have her! The choice and quality of the food was also excellent, we had two evening meals and cooked breakfast all superb. I would recommend a short stay here, it delivers.

"False advertisement"

4.0

Arrived just after 2pm for food and drinks and was told they stop serving at 2pm despite all the boards and menus saying 2:30. When asked why it says different the bar just shrugged. No apology no explanation (ran out of food, chef emergency etc) just a shrug!

"Amazing food and place"

10.0

We were recommended to go to this pub and have a drink so we could watch the steam trains go past. However we decided to have a Sunday lunch, and it was just fantastic one of the best roasts I have ever had. Would come back to Corfe Castle just to have the meal again

A great place for a short stay. The hotel is itself an historic building and the hotel is well run.
