Sefton Park Hotel

The room is nicely decorated. My priority was that a friend could stay with me for a night and so we had a room with twin singles. In follow up communication when I booked an extra night the host kindly arranged for me to stay in the same room. Nice little room. The shower is quite small but very clean and in good condition. Everything is clean, orderly and works. The room's tea and coffee supply is much better than most and included little biscuits. Toiletaries look and smell nice. There is a well stocked reasonably priced bar, board games, comfy bar sitting area. Actually very hard to fault anything and I would definitely book to come here again. I hope it might become a "home from home". Staff are all lovely which really matters to a single female traveller.

Booked a room and were for some reason put in a different room which was very dated and in serious need of TLC. Shower was spraying everywhere and tap was making a weird gushing sound. Bathroom in bad condition. And really does reading small gray room. Complained and then got moved to the room we had booked. Why would they even do this in the first place? We were with a baby and they gave us a smaller room than what we had booked. Poor customer service if you ask me. In the room we had booked, the pillowcase was covered in makeup (I think) and pictures of the bathroom are fake as the bathroom is nothing like the pictures. Very basic not gold shower head like the picture shows.

Night worker terrible. Terribly presented when he appeared. Waited 15 minutes on him appearing to get.my key. Very very slow bar service. Security no good as 2 random Liverpool guys came in after midnight chancing it and one of them peed everywhere in the ladies while the other other one tried to pretend he was a resident. Both clearly drunk and trouble. Why aren't the front doors closed when the bar is shut? Didn't feel secure.

Location was excellent. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

The three flights of stairs to my room were a bit of a strain.

Beautiful hotel with lots of character. Despite being very busy staff were really helpful. Good facilties, lovely food. Lots of history about Stuart Sutcliffe who grew up here, which we didn't know on booking. Amazing setting just opposite Sefton Park. Great location all round. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Parking is a bit of a premium not sure where you can park if just outside hotel is full. Our room was on top floor and was incredibly hot, we stayed during a mini heatwave. You could only open one of the 3 windows so we bought a fan. It would be good if the hotel provided fans in the room.
