"Lovely place with good food and access to canal walks"

8.0

We walked past the Royal many times and often stopped for a meal/drink, so when we needed to stay in the area it was an obvious choice. It's dog-friendly, the staff is lovely, the food is great, nice breakfast is available for a little extra. Direct access to the canal from the back garden. Would recommend!

"Disappointing"

6.0

The hotel needed a spruce up upstairs. Room 1 that we stayed was in need of decorating and a good clean. There was mould in the bathroom especially on the blind and dust. Restaurant was very and the food was very good. Staff very friendly and helpful

"Friendly staff & Great food"

6.0

Close to the scuba diving site and friendly staff

No hot water for 2 out of 3 nights so not able to have a shower or wash hair. The blind in the bathroom is covered in black mould. The shower doors do not close correctly so water spills out all over the floor. The rooms are tired and need a revamp.

"Very Disappointing, wouldn't stay again"

3.0

Lovely location, backs onto the canal so great for the dogs.

Whilst to room looked well decorated when we first came in, the room (and all of upstairs) smelled of porta loos for some reason. Only one of the 3 windows in the room could be opened and even that was held up with a log (not very safe). The bed was rock solid and really uncomfortable to sleep on. Only hot water came out of the taps in the bathroom meaning we had to use the shower if we wanted a glass of water. There was mould on the blinds in the bathroom and the shower tiles, and there were weird dirt streaks on the bathroom walls. The light up mirror in the bathroom was also broken. We were only staying one night but if we'd booked longer we would have definitely looked for somewhere else to stay. Breakfast is also only served from 9am so if you're an early riser, you'll have to find somewhere else for food in the morning.

Really Good experience we checked in at 2pm Room was great. We booked a table for the evening and went off Walking around the area. Our table was ready when we arrived for dinner and restaurant was very busy always a good thing. We ordered starters wine and main courses. The service was good and food excellent with a no rush concept was just what we wanted the atmosphere was good. Thank you for making our short stay great. Pete
