"Aloft has a Homey, Social Gathering Feeling - Wonderfully Different"

I missed my connection through Dulles to Japan, and United offered a voucher for Aloft and several others. What an unexpected and enjoyable experience! The lobby gets alot of natural light and has assorted comfy chairs, a pool table, a bar serving basic food in the evening, and a made-to-order breakfast niche in the morning. The food is average price, not cheap, and only the coffee is free. The receptionist was very helpful, locating in the 'back office' a loaner iPhone charger which I had packed in my luggage safely left at the airport for my rescheduled flight to Japan. Her friendliness was consistent with the whole vibe of Aloft.

"This place is great for a night or two. My only complaint is that the front desk staff is so rude."

The front desk staff was so unwelcoming throughout the stay. When we walked up to the reception desk they didn’t even acknowledge us at first as they were busy trying to figure out which room to put us in. They lied about shuttle departure times and were audibly talking negatively about the guest in the lobby after they complained about the missed shuttle.
