The staff were polite and the shuttle was good.

The pool was filthy. The depth marker signs were filthy above the water line and the pool floor was brown, especially around the filters. The elevator did not have a safety check certificate, it said to visit the office to view it which is highly unusual. The breakfast did not have any pork products, presumably because of muslim faith. This was not mentioned prior to booking and limited the breakfast options. The bed had a duvet but the duvet had no cover.

"Traumatic Experience"

The events that occurred during our stay were unacceptable, distressing, and, in my opinion, demonstrated a serious failure to ensure the safety and comfort of your guests. On the evening of our stay, at approximately 11PM, we were forced to contact the front desk to make a noise complaint regarding Room 216. A large group in that room was being excessively loud and disruptive, making it difficult for surrounding guests to rest. Approximately 30 minutes later, I began to smell a strong burning odor and smoke in my room. Concerned for our safety, I called the front desk again. Staff responded and went to Room 218, where they asked if everything was okay and then left. Roughly 20 minutes after that, the situation escalated significantly. The burning smell and smoke became even stronger, and shortly thereafter the fire alarm activated throughout the building. This caused considerable distress among hotel guests, particularly those staying on the second floor. When I opened my door, I observed that smoke was pouring from Room 218 and the hallway was heavily affected with the smoke quickly entering my room. As someone with asthma, I immediately experienced difficulty breathing. There were numerous guests in distress, including mothers carrying infants. I have video recordings documenting the incident and the conditions guests were forced to endure. The building was evacuated and the fire department responded. After authorities eventually cleared guests to return to their rooms, the second floor and our rooms still smelled heavily of smoke. Our party had reserved two rooms, 215 and 217. I was traveling with a young child and two elderly women, one of whom has a disability. Given the lingering smoke and the traumatic nature of the incident, I requested alternate accommodations within the hotel. However, the front desk informed me that only a king room was available in place of the double queen rooms we booked. This was not a suitable solution for our group. Despite the circumstances, we were not offered two replacement rooms or any accommodation that would adequately meet the needs of our group. By this point, it was already after 1:00 AM. Because of the late hour, securing accommodations elsewhere was not a realistic option. As a result, our group was left without a reasonable alternative and was unable to get meaningful rest for the remainder of the night. The physical discomfort, stress, and exhaustion caused by this situation significantly impacted everyone in our party. What is most troubling is that there were multiple warning signs throughout the evening. The disruptive activity in the neighboring rooms, the smoke and burning smell engulfing the 2nd floor and the subsequent fire alarm and evacuation. Despite these events, the hotel was unable to provide adequate accommodations for affected guests after the incident. I am requesting that Hyatt Place Herndon/Dulles Airport-East thoroughly review this incident and provide an appropriate resolution for my group.
