Portofino Beach Resort

We usually travel to large exquisite all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya. Not this time. We wanted to explore Belize ... and when we read about Portofino Beach Resort, it sounded like the perfect "out of the way, relaxing, with good food, and a dive shop on property" ... and we got exactly what we hoped for!! Our Beach Cabana was simply wonderful and every room is a few short steps to everything you need. Roberto & Richard at the dive shop went above and beyond for us. We rented a golf cart for 24 hours, so glad we did. Its a glimpse into the "real" Belize to travel into San Pedro ... it is a bumpy ride, but its very doable. And there is also the boat from the resort if you plan your activities around their schedule. There is also a water taxi in town. You can do as much or little as you desire. The only improvements we would welcome is a bit more comfortable seating and better coffee service. Our cabana had 2 wooden chairs that sat very low to the ground ... all the chairs from pool chairs (no loungers around pool, just on the beach and those do have cushions on the beach) and the restaurant ... And as for the coffee, it would be heavenly if they would offer a small coffee pot in each room. We are super early risers and it was usually 6:15 or 6:30am before our first cup. The staff really goes above and beyond to make your trip special. The owners are very gracious and take great pride in the property they have built for all to enjoy that come here.

Although the hotel is isolated there are regular water taxis that can transport you around the island, mainland, and other islands.

Welcomed with scented towels, our stay was so wonderful. Couldn't ask for a more friendly staff, great meals and a comfy neat room. Super views, swimming pool and inviting hammocks. The staff lined us up with Roberto and Teddy for a great snorkeling trip and then a memorable Mayan ruin trip. The worst thing is bumpy water taxi rides into town but this is where we would come back to as we loved the location.

The staff made the stay worth the price, from the bartenders to housekeeping. There was nothing that they would not try and accoumdate us on. The mansion is the only I would return to lodge there again. I stayed in the lower mansion plus the VIP suite and the beach bungalow. . They were to small for a long stay and value. . We also did snorkeling, very bad experience for my boyfriend no real instructions unless you were experienced .. golf cart was wayyyy to expensive for a day 24 hours😳.

Great staff that was very friendly and helpful. We liked the restaurant so much we are there three times. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We hope to stay here again sometime.

Mine and my friends stay at Portofino was awesome. The staff was great as well informative, knowledgeable, friendly like making u feel apart of their home their. When my friends and I return we will stay at Portofino.

I can't say enough great things about Portofino Beach Resort. From the moment my wife and I stepped off the boat the staff was right there to accommodate our every need. They place is beautiful, clean, and quiet. I loved Ambergris Cay. It is a beautiful safe fun island. I highly recommend going there. The suite/cabana was beautiful with French doors opening up facing the ocean. The restaurant was always good but a bit pricey. Although a nearby resort restaurant was same price but not as good. The resort offers water activities right from their dock or a water taxi to where you want to go. Very beautiful and romantic place to spend your vacation. Even though there were a few hiccups during our stay the staff did everything in their power to fix or come up with a solution. From the maintenance crew to the girls st the front desk who worked their butts off to get us on a sunset sail everybody did their best to make our stay pleasurable!

The stay was good the people were friendly and the place was kept clean .

everything was taken care of right from landing in san pedro. we were shuttled in a taxi, taken by boat to the resort, and met on the pier by staff. check in was simple and they were fully prepared when we arrived. food throughout the day was very good- dinner is a little lacking. staff was always present and happy to help with any question and they quickly learned our room for ease of signing off our daily bill. the room was very comfortable and cleaned every morning plus turn down service at night. the beach and resort are raked each night keeping a picture perfect white sand feel. the staff at the dive shop were wonderful and easily accommodated a personalized snorkeling trip. we loved the resort and would definitely consider returning.
