I love staying in old classic hotels and the Hitel Julian did not disappoint.

The room was a little small, but comfortable.

The service at the restaurant for breakfast was outstanding! Kind,attentive,and a great happy attitude.

Wrong room, paid 2 times for extra upgrades... Never received them,also requested 3 times to have a river view,never received.. I contacted the hotel directly by phone and they told me yes,twice...Still never received.. This was a very special occasion,all my husband wanted is a riverview.. ;(

Very clean and comfortable and excellent for the town centre, good free parking too. The staff were very helpful and I had a great nights sleep

Sadly I arrived on a Monday, just to note nothing much is open on a Monday.

The restaurant and Lodge. Proximity to the downtown area and University of Dubuque. Memories of visiting my granddaughter at the University.

For the past 4 years when my granddaughter was a student at the University of Dubuque, I stayed at the Hotel Julien during my visits and was very pleased. However, during this past visit I stayed at a room with one queen sized bed. The room however, was very small with virtually no closet to hang my jacket, suit and dress shirts. There was only a very small open area next to the cabinet and small refrigerator which had two robes on a hanger and an ironing board which occupied the entire space. I also noticed the interior of the hotel was beginning to look tired. The restaurant food and service was as usual very good. The lounge was also good as far as service but the furnishings were beginning to look tired. My granddaughter has now graduated and I doubt if I will ever return to Dubuque again.
