"Common courtesy & customer service costs nothing!"

4.0

The hotel was generally shabby and in need of a good clean and basic maintenance. The unused fountain in the dining room had dirty water laying within, the pool had a cigarette packet drowned at the bottom with dead plants and cigarette butts around the outside. The hotel room was okay but the shower curtain fell down four times, once whilst the cleaner was there but only one attempt to fix it was made. The main issue was the distinct lack of customer focus. Whilst we don’t expect 5* service, we don’t appreciate standing at reception waiting for personal conversations on mobiles to be completed or discussions with other staff members, before even acknowledging our existence. Yesterday we asked twice for service at the pool bar and after twenty minutes gave up and went down to the lounge bar and the price also varied depending on who served you. The food was luck warm on all occasions, and was the same on consecutive lunch and evenings, great only if you are a fan of chicken and olive tagine. The front of house manager argued with us with regard our change from lunch to dinner (as half board) stating that the person who confirmed our change was apparently a trainee and had not passed on the message and therefore we were in the wrong! The hotel was not central to the main tourist area, so although reasonably quiet at night, a journey in a taxi was needed, at varying rates depending on the aggression of the driver!

"Decent hotel on edge of New City"

8.0

We spent five days at this hotel, which is out of walking distance to the Medina and old part of the city. We caught the bus from the airport, but beware as it doesn't go as far as the Imperial Plaza - the driver dropped us by the side of the road and we had to rely on our pidgen French for directions and a 15 minute walk to the hotel. Our room was large and clean, with good TV and bathroom facilities and a balcony. This looked out onto the road, which wasn't as noisy as we had been warned. Other rooms look out onto a central courtyard, which would probably have been better. The rooftop terrace was pleasant, with a small but nice pool that was little used, so there were plenty of sunbeds available. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful, with all having at least limited English. Breakfast was also limited, but satisfactory. We might not have chosen this hotel if we had realised how far it was from the city centre, but for the price we paid it was perfectly acceptable. Anyone willing to do plenty of walking would probably not have a problem.

"3 nights away"

6.0

We have just returned from 3 nights at The Imperial Plaza Hotel. The staff were very friendly and the hotel clean. The food was average but the buffet was not open on the first night as there was not enough people at the hotel. We were given a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 deserts. This meal was the best we had there although there was little choice. The pool on the 6th floor was lovely however you could not add any food or drinks from the pool bar onto your room bill. We walked to the main square which took about 45mins.

"Good hotel, bad customer service"

6.0

Arrived a day early and they were able to get us a beautiful room although it was full price for the last minute booking. We were to pay in cash for the room but convinced them to charge the room after quite a bit of conversation. We had to switch rooms the next day. The room given for our reservation was decent but quite a downgrade from what we received paying full price. The A/C in this room didn't quite work and in following days there was an awful smell that didn't go away. Had to open balcony to air out the room. Front desk reception (one lady in particular) was very rude and not at all helpful. One day she was sitting down with a friend talking and wouldn't come to the desk to help. After a few minutes we went over to let her know that we needed help and she directed us to wait for someone else to come to the desk. She was very awful.

"Too far from the centre"

6.0

The hotel is nice enough, polite staff, excellent breakfast and a rooftop pool with a bar/ snack bar. The only pitfall is its distance from the Medina; doesn't look very far on the map, but there are more closer and convenient places to stay. If you're not fussed about catching a cab every time you want to get to & from centre, then it'll be great.

"Good value for money"

8.0

Once in Marrakech things were good. A small taxi for the two of us from near the hotel to the old city was about a london bus fare-not bad. Hotel was pleasant enough and the food was good-just stay away from the fishy pizzas. The view on the 6th floor terrace is a must see at sunset. We booked 2 of the Expedia tours which were good value for money. Tip: keep small change on you for when you go to the bathroom as you‘ll need to tip. Take picture in the main square at your peril! They will demand money from you for the picture. Warning!! When near the taxi rank don’t listen to any guy who tries to tell you he’s in charge of the taxis and you have to go through him. Walk away from the taxi rank and hail a taxi off the street. It’s cheaper and you don’t have to go through the hassle of haggling every time you travel. But be sure to agree the price with your driver BEFORE jumping in his taxi. Taxi ranks right outside the hotel charge more than ones off the street.

"Nice Hotel"

8.0

This hotel is excellent if you want to stay away from the daily hustle and bustle. A taxi ride will cost between 20-30 dhr into the city centre but DO NOT get a taxi from outside the hotel but from the main road, which is a 1 minute walk. Always haggle for taxi prices as the local drivers have a habit of quoting 100-150 dhrs for any taxi ride. If you do not want to get a taxi then bus 19 will get you near the city centre. Once again the staff are really friendly and helpful and the female receptionists are beautiful and always serve with a smile. I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel and recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Marrakesh

"On the whole a pleasant experience"

8.0

The hotel was on the whole a pleasant experience, the staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help you even though there was a language problem and they didn't always understand English. The room was clean and comfortable, the only main downfall was the laundry, it came back still damp, not smelling the best but the clothes were not ironed, for which they wanted extra money. Most hotels always wash and iron your clothes when you use their laundry service.

"Go anywhere else, but here!"

4.0

This hotel is NOT in Marrakech. It is well outside it and will cost a fortune in taxi fares to get in and out from the city. You cannot walk the distance as it is too hot. The service is extremely poor and they are just interested in getting money out of you any way they can. Nothing is free including the sauna or gym. There is a charge for every use.

"A big disappointment"

4.0

I thought I'd found myself a bargain 4 star hotel when I booked this hotel and the reviews were all pretty good. However, from teh pint we arrived and checked in, I realised I was in for a big disappointment. We arrived at 11am and were told we could not check-in until 1.30pm because our rooms were not ready - despite the hotel stating normal check-in is 11am. We decided to go for lunch whilst we waited in the pool cafe. We waited over 20 minutes for a bottle of water and then had to chase our food having waited over 40 minutes for sandwiches. To summarise, the hotel looks nice, is located about 15 minutes by taxi from djema el fna but in terms of service, it's terrible. The reception staff are not interested in looking after you. The rooms were nice enough in terms of cleanliness but the pillows are very hard and there are very few power sockets. Also, bring your own iron because they dont have any. Finally, you have to pay a local tax on departure - we paid about 12 pounds per room for 5 nights. I wouldnt recommend this hotel...its only been running for less than a year and the staff clearly still need a lot of training. Stay in a riad - I wish I had.
