"Nice old building in a convenient location."

Easy check in and parking. Nice old building, warm room and spacious. 10m taxi into gateshead. Room was very clean and bed comfy. Hotel is being refurbished and dining room already looking nice. Will return and look forward to seeing the full refurbishment

Peaceful location yet convenient for attractions and shopping. Lovely gardens. The outstanding feature of the stay was the food which is really excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. Renovations were underway, so difficult to get overall impression, but it looks like it’ll be welcoming. Spacious room, lovely comfortable armchair.

It was a good property, one or two areas needed a little sprucing up, but that work appears to be underway and not a major complaint. Pillows not the best is my only real let down.

Beautiful location and large comfortable rooms. It was undergoing a refurbishment but the staff were great We really enjoyed the evening meal and breakfast. Lovely grounds perfect for a stay in Gateshead or for Newcastle. We were there for a wake and it is close to the churches abd crem.

The shower was a bit erratic .

Staff friendly and helpful

Decorating work underway about which we were not warned. Lounge bar not open. Threadbare carpets. Have stayed here before and last year the hotel looked tired but now has declined to be downright ropey.

Really nice location

Bed was very uncomfortable I’m a big chap every time turned over metal bed frame made a nice Also when I booked this room it came with breakfast the guy on reception said breakfast was extra I Chechen my booking it clearly states breakfast with room sadly won’t be staying again
