Hotel El Silencio del Campo

I felt compelled to write a review for Hotel El Silencio del Campo—our stay was absolutely amazing and truly magical for our family. Everyone we met kept remarking how lucky we were to have chosen Silencio, and we couldn’t agree more. The grounds are beautiful, the hot springs and pool are lovely, the food is delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. One of the highlights was the on-site farm, which offers wonderful activities for kids like collecting eggs, milking cows, and horseback riding. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say—you will not be disappointed staying here.

Our family loved this hotel. From helping milk the cows and collect the chicken eggs in the morning, to feeding the fish at meals and enjoying the numerous hot springs on site. Our room was perfect for our family of 5 and the location is good proximity to all things La Fortuna! Unfortunately the weather did not allow a clear volcano view while we were there, but if their had been clear day I can imagine would be extra stunning grounds!

Great location and very friendly staff that was very helpful. Peaceful sleeping and hot springs. The breakfast was also fantastic. Would definitely stay again.

Husband and I spent two nights at this hotel on our first stop in Costa Rica. We wanted a smaller, low-key property with on-site, yet smaller mineral pools vs Tabacon. We were delighted at the individual cottage-style rooms which were very clean, quiet with a very comfortable king size bed. The room is air conditioned. The shower was spacious and had excellent water pressure. There are multiple mineral pools of varying temperatures set among lush trees and plants and usually, we were the only ones using them later in the afternoon after we did excursions. They were very clean and they give out beach towels at the front desk or at the bar near the pools. In addition to the usual shampoo/conditioner/body wash, the hotel supplies lotion insect repellent. The service at the front desk was OUTSTANDING as we had a small glitch with transportation one morning. I forgot the gentleman's name at the front desk (sorry!) who spent about a half an hour assisting us. Breakfast was included and was fresh and delicious as were the dinners we had there - all with the nicest waitstaff. Very relaxing. As my husband grew up in the Bronx and I in farm country, I chose Silencio for the on-site farm. It was fun to see the animals and, at 7:30 a.m. they milk the cow and gather eggs which adult guests and kids can also try. So, for us, it was a different, unusual amenity/experience. At check-in, we were tired from a long flight so when they brought us a cool, fresh fruit drink, we really appreciated that. The grounds are well-kept and they have a spa, which we didn't have time to use. It is very reasonably priced and is well-located for various sites and excursions. So, if you are looking for a different experience vs a larger resort, I recommend the serene setting and vibe of this property.

This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are individual cabins that are lovely. The rooms and grounds were wonderfully maintained and clean. The grounds had lots of amazing flowers and plants everywhere. It is a smaller resort, not many rooms so it was never noisy or crowded. I used the hot springs every day after we'd get back from our tours and it was nice to sit and soak in the warm water in beautiful surroundings. We also checked out the little farm and garden they have on site and those were fun. If we'd brought our kids they would have loved to help collect the eggs and milk the cows (which you can do). All of the staff members were really nice and friendly. Gabby at the front desk was especially lovely. If we ever return to La Fortuna, we will definitely stay here.
