Hotel Monaco

Room is modest but very clean. Staff are very friendly and food was tasty. For the price you can't get anything better. At night its a bit sketchy so take a taxi or Uber to get around at night. The metro stop is next door and the metrobus on Ave. Insurgentes that takes you to La Roma or Condensa is 4-5 blocks away.

We enjoyed our time in Mexico City, the bed was not comfortable and the ceiling fan didn't work. When I ask I was told it isn't connected and I'd need to pay to upgrade to a suit if I wanted a fan. They had lovely lady's of the night standing out front (not just at night) but other than that the location was great and easy to walk or a quick uber anywhere you wanted to go.

When we arrived the lady at the check in desk had our reservations but told me I owed x number of peso’s ... I had taken a copy of my reservation and receipt with me, but she was very adimement that we hadn’t paid. Of course my Spanish was as good as her English... but after about 5 min she said ... I have found !! Not 100% sure what she was trying to do there but I politely stood my ground. Great location, close to subway, a few restaurants, there is a restaurant in the hotel. The suites are nice and big...

Another great stay at the Monaco. We enjoyed our 6 nights even with the earthquake event, another new experience for us. The restaurant staff recognized us from our visit last year and mad us feel very welcome. Love the large master suite rooms, and especially overlooking the park. The area is lovely during the day and close enough to walk to the historic downtown. Not as lovely after dark as the "girls of the night" work these streets. We had no problems but it does make you pay attention to your surroundings, a taxi home after dark solves that.

I looked good place and people are friendly, also the bar was food good for the buffet breakfast and fruits that all yummy.

The room is very drab and definitely what you pay for. Furniture, door, cabinets are cheap and falling apart. If you are there just for sleeping and showering, then think of it as one up from a hostel. Room is kept very clean by the staff though. Location is very convenient to everything. It’s good to walk around in the day time but at night it gets sketchy with a lot of prostitutes etc. There is a laundromat around the corner. The hotel does not do laundry. The inside restaurant has good food but make sure you get what you order. I pointed at the menu of what I wanted, the waiter gave me the wrong order and was 2x the cost. :( I recommend the Paris Cafe across the street instead. If you are on a tight budget and love the convenience then this place works.

Hotel was nice and clean. Prostitutes hang out on the sidewalk outside. Staff was nice. Hotel advertises smoking rooms as being available but it's actually a non-smoking facility.

Ironically I had the same room I had two months ago. I noticed the table lamp had not been replugged from my last visit. The outlet still didn't provided electricity. In reality, there is only ONE functional outlet other than the bathroom. Otherwise, this is a great hotel.

You get what you pay for! You are better off if you seek to find a better hotel within the area. It’s not a place where you would want your family to stay, therefore not you would want to recommend to anyone no matter where they come from. If you do stay I wish you the best of luck, perhaps you will have a much different assessment of this steady gathering.
