The location well served by public transports and close to city centre.

Great location and the staff were friendly and fantastic. It’s a beautiful older house with onsite parking and perfecting location for walking.

Authentisches altes Haus (lt. Eigentümer von 1760). Die Einrichtung ist eher einfach, passt aber zum Haus. Unser Zimmer war groß, die Betten etwas hart (Federkern) und das kleine, saubere Badezimmer war im "Schrank". Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Der Eigentümer trägt am Abend schottische Lieder vor und zeigt dazu Bilder aus den Regionen Schottlands. Er scheint sein Land, verständlicherweise, sehr zu lieben. Das Frühstück war auch in Ordnung. Woran wir uns zunächst gewöhnen mussten war, dass man keinen aufgebrühten Kaffee bekommen hat, sondern heißes Wasser in einer Kanne. Damit konnte man sich dann mit Instantkaffee selbst einen Kaffee machen. Als Brot gab es nur Toast (auf Wunsch mit Nachschlag), eine zweite Alternative wäre schön gewesen. Was uns aber besonders gefallen hat war, dass unsere Motorräder sehr sicher auf einem abgesperrten, videoüberwachten Hinterhof und überdacht untergestellt waren. Im Boden waren massive Metallbögen einbetoniert, an die unsere Mopeds mit dicken Ketten angeschlossen worden sind. Später sind sie auch noch mit Tüchern abgedeckt worden. Vielen Dank dafür! Zur Haltestelle des Hop on-Hop off-Busses war es nicht weit und es gibt in der Nähe massig Restaurants. Wir können das Averon Guest House für einen Städtetrip nach Edinburgh sehr empfehlen.

Staff was very good

The room was VERY small. The breakfast was lacking real coffee (instead of instant). No hot items available. However the fellows that were serving toast etc were excellent. No ice available.

Our stay at Averon House was very enjoyable. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore Edinburgh on foot. The property itself is full of character and history, dating back to 1760, which gives it a unique and authentic atmosphere. The surroundings are well maintained, peaceful, and welcoming. The owner is exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the staff are equally warm and attentive. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. If you are looking for modern luxury or a high-end hotel experience, this may not be the place for you. However, if you appreciate comfort, tranquillity, simplicity, and the charm of a historic building, Averon House is an excellent choice. We especially enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the feeling of staying somewhere with genuine character and history.
