Nice swimming pool. Very far from the see. Lagging service and bad food.

Very friendly staff. Good nightly entertainment.

I have stayed at Alta many times over the years. I enjoy the garden surroundings, cool pools, spa, and restaurant. It is a lot more homey than other hotels. It has a pool table and climbing wall for kids, and a pool, spa, and nice restaurant for adults. My bed was very comfortable...a temperpedic style mattress with plenty of room. The bathroom had plenty of closet space, the television large and clear. It doesn't have a beach, but you can walk out to the water via a skywalk. I've been to beaches on Mactan, and they aren't really worth paying for. Mactan is usually a good basecamp for other things in the area...snorkeling the fish sanctuary, visiting whale sharks, visiting Bohol...but you are near the major airport. Other than the really nice and personal staff, and gardens, and nice homey room, I enjoy this area. All of Philippines suffers from dire poverty, and even Marco Polo is a stone's throw from extremely depressed areas. This area is not different except that it is as the more remote end of small Mactan island and it feels more provincial to me. The people are friendlier, and you don't see the naked street kids sleeping on the street that can be so hard to witness in the city. You can get a measured dose of the Philippines here...take jeepneys and pedicabs to Lantaw restaurant about 10 mins away, or take it easy in the nice restaurant on site.

Peaceful and unique place to stay,nature friendly, very accommodating staff, very helpful. I will go back anytime.

This hotel could be I much more if effort was put into making it a top star resort. I wished they took into consideration that people expect to get back what they pay for. And the chef needs to change, the food is horrible.

The staff was great. The food was pretty good also... I was under the impression it was near the beach. It was an ok place, not bad, just not great.

Alta Cebu is not in the main tourist part if town and doesn't have a beach front, so you end up making good use of the pool. You can take advantage of the hotel shuttle and go to White Sands and pay in for the day, against consumables, but for the 3 days we were there we pooled it which was nice as the resort wasn't too busy. Beautiful clean pool and comfy beds! The staff couldn't be more helpful, patient and kind especially the ladies on the desk and Marvin in the bar. We were there for Chinese New Year and had a great buffet dinner and entertainment and the poor bar menu had lots of choice for dinner too. Food and drink both really reasonable considering you are stuck there! I think I would only say breakfast could have a bit more of a western offering, however the team are willing to make whatever you want if you ask. The bedroom was a little dated and could do with modernising in terms of furniture and decor but had everything you could need and was lovely and clean. And cleaned everyday without asking - not always the way on this kind of budget in the Philippines! Our air conditioner was a bit loud, like a motorbike starting, but we got over it as the rest of our experience was so good!

nice and quite place if you just want to relax isolated from everything else distance from city centre is way to far as indicated in description of the hotel no transportation to be found but hotel can provide shuttle to drop you by nearest taxi stand taxi fare from city centre is 300 peso but no taxi from city wants to go there because its far from the city Office manager Joy is very understanding and accommodating she allowed me to check out a day earlir after I explained to her that I want to be near city centre
