The size and history of the hotel. Also the staff were amazing, helpful and accommodating- they helped me plan my day when the forcast was rainy, they are aware which bus stops are closed etc. I felt like a VIP with the way I was treated!

Chambre très spacieuse. Boissons chaudes et froides mis a disposition 24h/24 en libre service, gratuitement par l'hôtel. Jardin intérieur pour se promener et différents espaces détente.

Emplacement loin de toute activité. Obligé de prendre les transports en commun ou un taxi pour s'y rendre. (Minimum 30min) Délai d'attente beaucoup trop long pour le petit déjeuner alors que nous sommes arrivés à 8h.et que le service commence à 7h30. (30min d'attente avant prise en charge, alors que des tables étaient disponibles.) Difficultés de compréhension en anglais avec le personnel, nous souhaitions simplement quelques aliments, le serveur nous a apporté le menu complet.

You travel here for this hotel. It is iconic. More than a hint of Wes Anderson about it. Everything has been considered. We stayed in the Flower Palace. Each room is after a different flower and the stationary, artwork, rug, everything, is particular to the flower. The onsen and spa area overlook the mountains. They are luxurious. It is easily accessible by bus from the Shinkansen train station. Its a windy 30min on the bus but very scenic. The same bus line also takes you to the lake and other sites around Hakone. We had dinner and breakfast and these were exceptional experiences, particularly breakfast. The hotel is surrounded by a beautiful garden which takes 20-30min to walk around and is lovely just to sit in and experience. Our stay at this hotel was a highlight of our 2 week holiday.

I hadn't understood that Hakone is more of a region than a town, so hotels are scattered throughout. There isn't much else around Fujiya hotel although if you want to look at other things, taking the bus to them is very easy. Staff were perhaps more used to people who drove, or were not interested in other areas so did not have a lot of advice/ guidance on how to get to these other places by bus or even to suggest where to go. This is not a criticism, just something to be aware of.

Le petit déjeuner occidental très long à servir , de mauvaise qualité donc très cher pour le service rendu . La lenteur du service au restaurant pour le dîner à la cascade , 50 mn pour avoir le premier plat alors que le restaurant est quasi vide , les serveurs débarrassent les tables vers au lieu de s’occuper des tables occupées , très cher pour le service et sa qualité , aucun intérêt

The hotel and property was beautiful and quiet. A lovely respite during our busy two weeks visiting Japan.
