The Fujiya Hotel

An old traditional hotel which is a monument in its own right. Large rooms. Three restaurants available on the premises. Traditional swimming pool and quite modern onsen. Very attentive staff.

Het inchecken en ontbijt neemt wel zijn tijd in beslag. Dit kan vervelend zijn als je andere plannen hebt waar je tijdig moet zijn.

Hotel was beautiful and historical. Very clean and room was comfortable. The Japanese restaurant is amazing and so authentic. It’s the only restaurant we fully enjoyed and service was great there.

The restaurants in the hotel need to be prebooked if you want to have dinner even the main Cascade restaurant. There are not too many options around the hotel to eat outside. During the week places are closed and on weekend everything is fully booked. Dinner in the hotel is finishing very early, last sitting is at 7.30pm. Staff in the restaurants doesn’t speak English. In Fudji restaurent they couldn’t accommodate the requests beyond the menu (even I just asked for broccoli for a child which my husband had with his steak so it was available). Some of the menu items translated wrong into English. We ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce from kids menu for my child and it came with seafood, ham and mushrooms. Next day when we went to Cascade restaurant I didn’t get my main course so needed to reorder and wait while my family was eating. The service is slow with delivery and with clearing the table, empty plates will be staying in front of you even the next course is there so need to find spaces to move them. Water sometimes was not offered or replenished. Dessert took 15 minutes to be delivered
