The Fujiya Hotel

Beautiful location, helpful staff, large room, comfy bed.

Bathtub could be deeper, larger.

Verzorgde kamer met mooie onsen. Mooi smaakvol ontbijt.

Heel lang wachten op de wijn in het Japans restaurant.

Beautiful hotel with excellent facilities. Treated like royalty. Onsen was amazing.

Further away from main tourist sites than I realised. The evening meal we were moved into a smaller room due to a function taking place in the main restaurant.

I had stayed at the Fujiya Hotel a long time ago, before the big reform, and was pleased to see that, while it is now more modern and comfortable, it has managed to keep many of the original features and atmosphere. It is a beautiful grand hotel. We particularly enjoyed visiting the museum and the garden. The hot spring is beautiful! The staff is impeccably polite and efficient.

Unfortunately, one small detail at dinner left a bad impression of service: we had a booking and were at the Cascade restaurant for dinner at 7. We had our starters, and immediately after our main courses had been served, the waitress came to the table with the menus and said: "Last orders, could you please order the desserts?" What?!? Why? It was just past 8 p.m., and we had just started enjoying our main courses! Why did she have to rush us in such a rude manner? Fortunately, my overseas visitor was very gracious about it, but we all felt rather uncomfortable. It's a 5-star hotel, not a fast food joint, and we would have really appreciated having a more relaxed dinner.

Location was wonderful with beautiful gardens and Onsen.

Хороший отель, есть ощущение, что попал в прошлое. Качественные материалы отделки, мебель. Очень красивый сад на территории, где можно гулять. Спа зона с горячими источниками (Онсен). В целом высокий уровень сервиса, за исключением одного НО, которое сильно портит впечатление:

Наверное, это некая особенность, не только в этом отеле, но и практически везде - искусственно создавать очереди. Приходишь к примеру на завтрак, тебе нужно получить талончик и подождать минут 10-15, пока тебя пригласят пройти в зал (при этом половина зала пустая, свободные столики). Даже с условием того, что в ресторане уже сидели наши друзья за большим засервированным столом, это их не убедило предложить нам сразу присоединиться к друзьям. Персонал ещё минут 10 ходил туда-сюда, что-то там выясняя, пока нас не встретили друзья на входе в ресторан (эта ситуация кажется полной глупостью и просто тратит как время гостей, так и их время). Также ты сталкиваешься с подобным, когда приходишь в лобби, чтобы заказать чай - 9 из 10 столиков свободны, но тебе обязательно скажут “sorry, we are fully booked”, ты им указываешь на то, что все свободно, они тебе предлагают подождать, ходят минут 10 туда сюда, затем предлагают присесть за столик. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Exceptional historic hotel. Charming and picturesque in all aspects. Old school but very comfortable. Was an enjoyable experience to stay here.
