General Palmer Hotel

Outstanding hotel. Excellent service from staff and hotel is located right in downtown Durango and right next to the train. Balcony views of train taking off was very cool.

General Palmer is a very nice historic hotel located on Main street. It's walking. Distance from the train and also to many of the best restaurants in Durango. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the rooms are fantastic.

Everything, the young man at the desk was very kind and knowledgeable on the history of the hotel, was nice visiting with him

Historisches Gebäude zentral in Downtown Durango

The location of the hotel is ideal, and the historic building is beautiful. The rooms are small, but just as one would expect of a hotel from that Era. They are clean and include amenities for showering (shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer).

The breakfast is substandard. While the location of the breakfast is charming, the hotel should elevate this feature with food that is tastier. Even a continental, pastry-only breakfast is better than a hot one that feels like a roadside hotel.

Downtown Durango so you are close to everything. Staff was nice and the room was clean and comfy.

I liked everything. We stay here often.

I liked the spacious king bed suite in Palace building and the helpful staff that were courteous and happy. The only thing I would change is a bigger tv. But really enjoyed our stay. We'll be back more often.

Needs a larger tv. Also bathroom needs a bath mat towel for the floor.

Very cozy hotel. We loved the feeling of stepping back in time. Everything was very lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, some hot foods and they had GF options for me for bread and oatmeal. There was only one little issue during our stay, and that was with the wall heater unit, it was difficult to navigate the remote to get it working. The nighttime staff tried everything as well and eventually gave us a portable heater. He was also willing to change out our room if we wanted. But the heater eventually came on and all was good. We loved the location, right next to the train. We loved hearing the steam whistle blowing, which for some people may not be so pleasant, so keep that in mind. Overall a wonderful stay!!
