Birch Hotel

We arrived and there was no staff at the hotel and our key was left in a envelope in the lobby with others. Rooms where small and dirty. The next morning when i went to purchase a bottle of water staff where not very friendly. We got woke up 30mins before our check out time. Paid £513 for one night stay. Can honestly say its the worse value for money i have ever had at a hotel and i have stayed in many. Will never be back

If I could leave -5 stars review for this establishment that would still be far too generous After travelling for 4 hours, we arrived to find the hotel reception was locked and no member of staff in sight. After speaking to somebody over the phone, we were then told they’d be with us to help in 10 minutes. Half hour of sitting in the lobby later, a lady finally arrived, clearly very annoyed that she’d had to get back to work and actually do her job. When we finally managed to get into reception to try and check in, I was told that my booking did not exist, even though I’d made the booking 10 MONTHS prior to the date we were due to stay. Even after I produced the confirmation email of said booking to the miserable receptionist, along with proof of payment through my mobile banking app, she refused to acknowledge it as genuine and told me that I must’ve been scammed by a third party company. She then told me the details of my booking weren’t the correct details for their company, even after I phoned the number at the bottom of my confirmation email and it rang straight though to the phone sat directly behind her. I’d advise anyone considering staying with The Birch Hotel to save your money and your time and avoid it at all costs, the place is an absolute shambles.

Check in was great but that is where it ended.

The room had mould in it and the bed was tiny! The room was dirty and dusty. There was an awful musty smell in the room and the windows were blown. The water pressure in the shower was diabolical. There was exposed live electrical wires in the garden. The breakfast was terrible. The beans were cheap and had an awful after taste. The Mushrooms were deep fried as was they sausage. I asked for poached eggs and was serves fried and the plate was swimming in oil!

The staff were friendly

The shower, the pillows like rock, so hot in room no AC, and the cooked breakfast not good one bit, so had cereal

This was good value for money. Clearly used by business and working folk working away. All very functional, clean and with good staff.

Bed was broken, paid £430 for one night , the price was increased due to the oasis gig at heaton park. Breakfast wasn’t included in this deal which was shocking. Shower was a dribble. When we told the concierge about the bed, he said he would pass it on to management not good enough.

Location

Every day for the 3 days a cleaner walked in to our room even though we had a do not disturb sign on, which was a huge invasion on our privacy which nobody has even attempted to resolve

Was a lovely hotel. We pre booked it a year in advance for the oasis gig and it did the job! Bed for the nights Staff were super friendly and accommodating Great!

The shower was tricky was either boiling hot or freezing cold and not much power but other than than was great for a bed for the night
