Hotel Paradiso

My son and I spent 9 days touring Europe, scouting places for us to bring tour groups and definitely found an amazing one in Hotel Paradiso! Simply put, it is like staying on a movie set location, as the view is stunning, the staff amazing and the rooms super clean and comfortable. It's the perfect hub for seeing the Cinque Terra, as the boat tour, which is basically a huge water taxi, is with in 500 meters of the hotel. We loved seeing all the villages, but the highlight for us was coming back to The Hotel Paradiso for a delicious meal, then watching the world class sunset at the castle that sits on the point of Portovenre. Stefano and his team are truly amazing to work with and have our highest recommendation for couples, families or groups wanting to enjoy that very special part of Italy. Logistically, it was very easy, as we took the train to La Spezia station and Stefano was kind enough to meet us at the exit tunnel and get us to the hotel for only 40 Euro! It was definitely a highlight of our trip and we can't wait to go back for another visit with our groups.

We stayed for 3 nights and the hotel was great with very friendly staff. Our room was very clean. Breakfast was really good. Great location ! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Our family of three stayed at the family-operated Hotel Paradiso for three nights in March. We had a quad room with a loft and spiral staircase. Our teenage son enjoyed having his own little space! One bed for adults on main level and two twin beds in the loft. The room had a spectacular view of the harbor and was just a minute walk to the main area of town or down the steps to the restaurants along the harbor. The room was compact but functional. We you are in Portovenere you are not concerned about staying in the room! The breakfast area had spectacular 180 views, as did the terrace and indoor lobby seating area. Once again, we were traveling in the off-season (March) but enjoyed the slower pace and fewer people bustling about. Avoid the main restaurants by the harbor and venture up the narrow roads for better quality and lower prices. The supermarket is just down the street from the hotel if you wish to purchase snacks or other supplies. The staff were cordial but not overwhelming friendly or helpful. The breakfast was good, and I loved waking up to the smell of fresh pastries! Meats, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, and various breads were available. They did provide great parking on the street right by the hotel for our car rental, which was great, but I expect that during the summer months parking would be extremely limited. One of our favorite days was exploring the town, church, and amazing coastal views from above the town.

We chose Portovenere due to the location to the ferry for visiting the Cinque Terra and we were very luck to find the Hotel Paradiso. The location is great, we had a wonderful view of the Bay of Poets, and woke up to the most amazing sunrise ever. The ferry is definitely the way to see the CT in all its glory, we strongly recommend it over the train, unless the weather is bad (it wont run then) but we were very lucky!

We were picked up at the lower elevator at La Spezia train station by Stefano who drove us in the shuttle to the hotel. The fare was 40 euro for three of us. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Paradiso. It has fabulous views and is a short walk into Porto Venere. We had dinner at the hotel and were served by by our waiter, Luigi, who was very entertaining!

The hotel is run by a family who take pride in what they do, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is located up the hill too far to walk to so a taxi is required or use the hotel shuttle bus which operates twice a day. The view of the lake and Bellagio is stunning. The continental breakfast is adequate and the bathroom is VERY small but overall a nice place to stay.

Excellent stay. Great restaurant with good views and a wonderful waiter. Good size room and bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff.
