Conca D'oro

One of the harder reviews I have written as I wanted to be sure when I review a hotel that I get a good idea of what the standards are for the location. For example Positano is built on the side of a mountain and far from most modern conveniences. That being said I would never stay here again. While I can appreciate that this hotel might once have been perfect it is in a slow state of needing updates and things to be refreshed. I paid for an upgraded room w a jacuzzi on the balcony. Not worth it. The jacuzzi kept draining the water. It was also clear the temp settings needed to be fixed as it just would get warm. I mentioned this to the hotel along with the hot water in our shower that came and went. No real concern to fix these things. The food was basic. But nothing exceptional. There balcony really could also be more private. I’ve stayed in better private suites in the jungles of Costa Rica and had much hotter water and more privacy even with rooms situated right next to each other. Overall this is mid level hotel that is simply overpriced. But the next level in Positano is going to cost about 30% more. If you can afford it. Try something in the 1700/night range. I think we paid 1100 ish. Had I paid 600 ish I would have been able to accept it. Do note the staff was friendly and helpful. I think the major issues of this hotel are beyond their control. And with, as others have said, such a solid and Long walk to get to the hotel it’s just not worth it overall.

This hotel and staff are truly amazing! It made my time in Positano all the more special! I would recommend to anyone staying in Positano to stay here!

The downstairs is four star. Nice dining room and bar. Most of the people at the desk are friendly and helpful. The view is out of this world beautiful. The rooms? Another story! I’m an 80 year old former businessman. I’ve stayed in many hundreds of hotel rooms. This room was the smallest that I’ve ever had. There was an 18 inch clearance from either side of the bed to the corresponding wall. At the foot of the bed there was an 18 inch clearance to the small vanity. If you wanted to trade places with your wife, one or the other of you had to lay down on the bed to let the other pass. The bathroom was tiny too. The shower was 24 inches deep. You couldn’t extend your elbows in the shower unless you positioned your body at an angle. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the ferries. Uphill! Once you get there, you must climb 105 steps to enter the lobby. It’s good exercise, but some people won’t like that. The cost? In the neighborhood of $700 / night. Easily the worst deal I’ve ever had. We booked the room through booking.com. Maybe that was part of the problem?

The Hotel Conca D’oro was exceptional with its very courteous and efficient staff. The waiters were very informative and friendly. The hotel is so beautifully decorated and the views are fantastic. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

lovely decor, very clean and beautiful views, excellent service at check-in and from all employees. Hotel arranged car transfer service and cooking class for us that were both excellent. Be prepared for stairs but they do have porters to help with luggage thankfully.

The dining and reception staff were very friendly, informative and helpful. The room had a great view and was always clean for us when we returned. Our daily breakfast was always fresh and filling. We had dinner in the dining room and the food was delicious.

Hotel Conca d’oro is a beautiful hotel with breathtaking views. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We were lucky enough to be given a room upgrade upon arrival. We were given a deluxe room. The room was extremely clean, and our beds were always made, and new towels and toiletries were put out for us upon return to our room. There are lots of steps to climb (105) to get to the hotel, which can be difficult, especially on a really hot day.

We had a great time at this hotel. The staff were really helpful and polite. The room was really lovely. We were upgraded for free on arrival. The breakfast was always good. The views from our room and the restaurant were amazing! I would definitely stay here again. There are a lot of steps, and taxis can only stop at the bottom. So be aware that it may not be suitable for people who struggle walking.

The room very clean with beautiful view to the town and the sea.

Beautiful view and nice deck make up for small size of room. They booked us into a different hotel for the first night because they said they had a toilet issue in our room. The hotel they put us in was better and we would have preferred to stay there in hindsight. Even though they came and transported our bags it was a hassle to not be able to settle in. When we checked in it was clear they weren't going to do anything about that. No discount, no free appetizer or drink... nothing. And, then our toilet ran unless we "jiggled the handle" (pushed the button) and when we mentioned it to them, they just acted like they would fix it and it was no big deal. Also, not very helpful with local trips or tips. We went to OneFire beach one day and asked help in resrvations and how the water taxi worked and basically ended up contacting them directly ourselves and made all the resrvations. The bartenders and staff at breakfast were great. The manager and front desk staff, not so much.
