"Cheap and cheerful"

6.0

Very dated and somewhat run down hotel. Great location and helpful younger guy at desk. If you are just looking for somewhere to sleep it is fine and for the money paid can't expect much more. Seen into some of the other rooms and they looked in much better condition then mine so maybe they are up grading the place.

"One of small hotels in the centre of Nice"

8.0

Personnel is very friendly and helpful. Location is great-short walk to the seafront, old Nice and shopping area. Easy to get from/to airport and train station. A bit noisy-but it’s something one should expect if you live in the vibrant town centre. And windows in the hotel are good and when closed keep most of the noise out. I felt that hotel had some local character-the interiors, notes no boards, shadows on some walls, the wall finish and colours, some unusual elements of décor. Breakfast room is small and combined with the office-some may not like it but to me it just adds to the home-like style. Breakfast is a generous French petit déjeuner – orange juice, croissant, 2 large pieces of baguette, butter, jam, hot drink. The room was clean-hotel personnel was excellent at cleaning and provided lots of towels, soap, shampoo. Unfortunately the state of repair is poor. Some plaster on walls damaged, cracks on walls, stains on walls and ceiling. Having said that, the bathroom in our room looked new, all in working order, although it would be nice to have some hooks to hang clothes and towels. WiFi was slow and sometimes disappeared-I even had to ask the staff to get it to work – I think they had to reboot the router. But in my experience hotel WiFi is usually poor in France. Would I come back? I’d say yes if the price is right.

"Great location"

8.0

Felix Beach Hotel is in a premium location, right in the middle of all great restaurants on Massena Street, 7 minute walk to the Promenade and beach. The hotel it's self could use some upgrades. rooms painted, more outlets and better wiring system.

"NOT THE BEST."

6.0

As you walk into the reception area of the building it looks very nice then you climb the stairs, they are steep and not very well light. Afew loose nose ings makes them a bit unsafe. As we got to our room on the top floor number 14 we were out of breath, there is no lift. I had read previous reviews so went armed with anti bac wipes, Dettol spray also spare mattress cover and pillow cases. all which I used. I feel I left the room a lot cleaner than when we arrived. the shower head h0lder was broken so we had to adapt a metal coat hanger to hold the shower head in place. we lined the shelves in the clothes area with our newspaper. before we would place our clothes in it. we had air con but not very good at all an extra fan was also in the room which was no use either. the room was overlooking the main street it was very noisey, then you had the bin men and street cleaners early morning. however, there was a small balcony which we just about managed to sit on before going out for the day. As far as location its great not far from shops, bars, train station, beach. it just needs abit of TLC. staff were friendly enough and spoke English. I would not stop their again I would pay for a better room elsewhere.

so many stairs no elevator, no view, small area, bug found in the bathroom, bed with multiple scrums but good breakfast, amazing location, has everything the room needs, average air conditioning. They took our luggage while we were at the beach which was amazing.

"AVOID - this is a dreadful hotel"

2.0

Avoid at all costs. The convenient location is not a good reason to stay here. The welcome we got from the grumpy Danny de Vito character on what might be termed the front desk, was perfunctory at best and more likely downright rude. We were offered no assistance to our rooms on the 3rd floor and as we climbed the dirty damaged and fluff ridden steps, we were not surprised that the management didn’t want to be with us when we found our room. I was in room 7 and my friend was in room 10 to start with though moved to room 4 to get a bed that was functional. The room. It was dingy and dirty. The walls were stained though it should be said that one wall did appear to have paint on it. The room smelt of urine (we found out why later). The floor was dirty (I kept my socks on for the whole stay). The window to the balcony was broken. The balcony was very dirty and the furniture on it was badly soiled. There was a table which housed a dirty kettle and cups (not used) and a cable minefield for the TV (not used). The table was dirty. There was a small heat exchanger under the table with a thick layer of dust on it. There was a wardrobe but the doors were faulty. To be fair, the lights all worked but when I turned them on it made the room look worse. There was a metal chair, but the cushion was stained and it was holding back the single curtain which was dirty and stained and had been adjusted for length by the use of safety pins. To be fair these pins looked fairly new. The air-con did work thankfully. The bed. The cover was badly soiled and smelly (possibly the urine - but not tested). The sheets looked clean but the single blanket looked a bit suspicious. The bed base was badly soiled and I couldn’t bring myself to look under the bed. The bed pillows were biscuit thin so I found the spare pillows in the wardrobe. Both of these looked like they had been used before, judging by their creasing. I put a t-shirt over them before using them. The best bit about the bed was that, on the side that I used, it was fairly level and I did actually manage to sleep. The bathroom. This was disgusting. The floor was dirty, the walls were dirty and there were wires sticking out of the wall over the sink. The mirror was dirty and the glass shelf was stained and dusty. The sink was dirty and broken and - it transpires - the plumbing under it was broken and leaked badly when I shaved. To be fair the water pressure was good and the water was hot. The toilet was rank! It was not fixed to the floor and there was a tell tale leak at the back (I think the source of the urine smell - again not tested). The seat was not fixed on properly. The shower over bath was dirty and cracked but the shower curtain was ok. The shower fitting was broken and dangling free. The grouting between the tiles was stained. We reported the state of this room to our friendly receptionist, but he didn’t care. My mate’s room was worse and he got moved. He had received bed bug bites which only started to heal after some treatment. We were having long days at the racing which also meant that the hotels in Nice were pretty full so we really had to put up with it - or sleep on park benches. Summary. The very best thing about this hotel was the outside where we enjoyed our return visit to this wonderful city. We are saddened that the owners of this dreadful establishment blight the decent reputation of the city. We cannot advise strongly enough that, based on extensive experience of staying in hotels, this is probably the worst hotel that I have encountered and - really - staying anywhere else is the best choice for staying in this great city.

"Good location, friendly but grotty bathroom."

6.0

Great location and nice breakfast. Lovely coffee, croissants etc. Room was extremely tired. Bed very old so not a good night's sleep. Shower, bathroom needed a refurbishment....best not to look up when you are in the shower (mould etc)! But very cheap, great location and staff were friendly.

"Central hotel in the pedestrian area"

6.0

The check-in / check-out was simple. The staff answered any queries I had. The room was adequate for somewhere to rest my head after a day of sight-seeing. There was a kettle in the room and free tea & coffee, though no refrigerator, even though it specified there would be one in the room.. Breakfast consisted of a croissant, bread, jam & butter, hot drink and juice. all quite basic but adequate.
