"Quaint, spacious boutique hotel"

10.0

We stayed here for a weekend while visiting Düsseldorf for a wedding. Located in a leafy inner suburb 5 minutes' walk from a tram stop, and about an hour's walk from the old town, the hotel has spacious, clean rooms, free wifi and included German style breakfast buffet. The front desk staff were helpful, and the price very reasonable.

"Good hotel in quiet street"

8.0

Excellent hotel 10mins in the tram to city centre and we were given a free pass for the three days we were there. Easy to find by car and good parking also easy to get to from the airport. We had a suite in the annexe which was lovely. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff and they could speak English.

"Better than Big Hotel Chains"

10.0

Just back from Medica and satayed at Haus am Zoo Very quiet location but only 10 mins by tram to City and the old town. Lovely big room and bathroom which was very clean and warm The room was part of a complex in the garden outside of the main hotel so again very quiet. Staff at the hotel could not do enough they were fantastic and so helpful Breakfast - choice and quality first class - breakfast room warm/cozy and relaxed feel. Will definately stay here again !!!! If your looking for something with personality - warmth and a home from home dont look any further.

"Good stay, destroyed by being attacked and bitten by hotel owners dog!!!"

4.0

We arrived at this hotel on the 12 August 2013, late that night. We where starving and before even checked in inquired about food options, where told no food but they did give us directions to a lovely italian place about ten minutes walk away. We had a one bedroom flat next door to the main hotel, it was clean and pretty. The double sofa bed in the lounge was not a double and my two oldest girls could not fit on it, they are 6 and 7. The big double bedroom was sufficient and had a large double and a added single for our four year old. Bathroom was clean, a bit small, but it is just a hotel and not a permanent residence. Clean towels where provided for daily, and toiletries where restocked. Breakfast was good on both mornings and staff where very good. We found it a bit odd on the first morning 13 august 2013, after breakfast our girls went for a walk in the hotel garden to see the pool and to stretch there legs. We heard dogs barking and the next thing the hotel owner came running and screaming at our girls to get away. All they where doing was walking in the hotel garden. This reaction put both my husband and I on edge and made us both a bit angry as to why that reaction. On our final morning 14 August, went down for breakfast, was very good, staff where all good and helpful. After breakfast we all went for a walk in the garden, as we where going back into the hotel the hotel owners dogs escaped from there private area next door to hotel and attacked us. One dog got my skirt and ripped it, and the second dog got hold of our youngest and bit into her knee. It was chaos. We managed to get the dog off and into the hotel as the other dog was still trying to get to our older two girls. When we got inside checked our daughter who had a very deep bite, and was in hysterics. The hotel owner tried to clean it and I swiftly pushed her aside and dealt with it, she was trying to tell me it was not to bad and was okay. I was having none of it. My husband and I demanded to see a doctor, which we also demanded the take us to one. Not knowing the city did not want to waste time following the sat nav, just wanted to get there. We where seen at the doctors, giving a surgical dressing, anti bio-tics just in case she developed a infection. Where told to keep it clean and under sterile dressing for 10 days, and to keep it out the water for 10 days which RUINED our entire holiday as we where going from Germany to a villa in Italy with a pool we had rented for a week. The hotel owner, dared to question my children demanding who had been near her private gate with a ball that morning and opened it. I informed her that ball was not ours, we had not been near that side. Besides all this how the hell can you have two vicious dogs on a hotel site that just attack and bite people??? Its such a shame because we did have a pleasant time at this hotel, the staff are all lovely and did everything to help from day one, we also enjoyed an amazing BBQ our last night with brilliant food. But this is all ruined by a dog attack and bite. Our daughter is still recovering and is now left with being terrified of dogs, cats and animal she is convinced will bite her. It is going to be a long road ahead to recover. AVOID THIS HOTEL UNTIL THOSE AWFUL DOGS ARE TAKEN CARE OFF!!!

"Exceptional"

10.0

We loved staying at Haus Am Zoo. It was very relaxing and friendly. It was away from the busy city but very accessible by tram. The hotel gave us a free pass for all of the various forms of transportation so we had fun exploring the trams and metros. Breakfast was out of this world. They have a lovely restaurant with view of an outstanding backyard, pool and spa (although we didn't use them). Next time I would ask for a room facing the back but the front room was very pleasant also. If someone has children, there is a delightful new park at the end of the block that was delightful.

"Hotel Haus am Zoo, Dusseldorf - ideal for families"

10.0

We chose this hotel because it was one of the few in Dusseldorf to offer a family room suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. We booked an apartment at the hotel, which was housed in a building a few doors down from the main hotel building. It was a garden apartment with a small terrace and opening onto the hotel garden. The apartment was very well equipped, with a small kitchen (including a fridge, oven and electric hob, and coffee maker), a good sized bathroom with a bath and separate shower, and a large lounge / bedroom with sofa and armchair, a king-size bed and another double bed. The room was part divided with a wardrobe, allowing the children to sleep and us to sit up and talk / watch tv with the lights on! The hotel breakfast was very good, a typical German breakfast with lots of choice. The main hotel building was nice, the staff extremely helpful and the garden lovely. All the rooms were very clean throughout our stay. The hotel is very close to a tram stop and S-Bahn station with good connections for the main station and the Altstadt.

"Very neat and comfortable hotel, will recommend to everybody"

8.0

Excellent condition, clean and cozy looking. Quiet neighborhood and streets, neat hotel backyard where in the summer one can have nice time relaxing and even use an outdoor pool. The hotel service was excellent, the breakfast nutritious and the staff friendly. The price for the room in October was reasonable and the location of the hotel convinient. Drawbacks: I did not see an air conditioning in the room, but could be possible central. No Wi-Fi although one could use an wired internet in the lobby for free.
