Best Hotel Dunkerque - Grande Synthe

Having read the reviews of this hotel prior to booking, we were a little concerned but decided to give it a try. We are really glad we did. Before we even got there, the staff provided us with excellant directions on how to find the hotel by phone, even though our French, and their English, was limited. On arrival the receptionist was friendly and very helpful making us hot chocolates after the kitchen had closed. The room was clean and tidy. We had a family room for three which was spacious enough and the compact en suite had an excellant shower. All in all a very nice hotel, not for a weeks holiday perhaps, but for a stop over on the way to somewhere else as we were, it provided an excellant nights accomdation.

Booked hotel as 1 night as a stop over on the return road trip back from Hungary to Aberdeen. Received a call at 10pm(France local time) asking to call back and that someone will be there to let us into our room! :) Couldn't call back due to poor mobile reception. Arrived at hotel through an industrial estate at 12-midnight. Front of the glass entrance door locked, only switch there was a light switch and not buzzer. There was an intercom looking system with no instructions. Luckily someone was coming out to his car and let us in. Hotel would do with a buzzer for staff attention on the outside for when reception closes for the evening. When inside, pressed the reception attention buzzer, night porter came out to greet us with very good English and told us that our room was open with the key inside. Nice French man :) en suite Double bed Room: was basic but very clean. Bed very comfortable, could not hear noise from side neighbors nor from motorway traffic. Fresh clean room. Bathroom clean and bright, shower great, 1 pair of clean towels for the 2 of us. we both had very good night sleep. Did not order breakfast not used the facilities so can't comment. Hotel Price for 2 people, you get what you paid for but this was a good hotel to return back to in the future. Reading other people reviews and its a 2 star hotel not 3 stars or more. High exceptions of other reads and that's why they are more than disappointed. Hotel 35mins away from EuroTunnel ("Le tunnel sous la Manche" in France) :)

Easy to find with good access to ferry port. Very helpful and efficient staff. However room was tiny and in need of renovation. Bathroom also tiny. Barely enough room for us and our cases. Looks and feels much cheaper than it actually was. We also think the excess of power-lines overhead stopped our SatNav from working properly!

This was a one night stop with some motorcycling friends. Admittedly we arrived late in the evening but there was nothing open .... no restaurant and no bar. Plus the hotel is on an industrial estate and there is nothing within walking distance. Nearest bars or restaurants are about 10km away in Dunkirk. Rooms are small and very basic.

I stayed in the hotel for 2 night on the way back from Amsterdam. when we get to the hotel I expect it to be bad, when we just checked in the hotel my dad tell me when we get are luggage in the car tell me the hotel small and my dad expect the hotel to be bad when we get to are room, we disappointed how small is the hotel room, my dad cant fit in the bath room because he is big. when we wake up in the morning and we have breakfast they have small portion of food they charge breakfast when we checked-out form the hotel. The service is not impress. thing what i like about this hotel is the WI-FI only because we use the internet to contact friend and family

Excellent hotel, great staff, spotlessly clean. Excellent Value for money & location. Great for shopping sightseeing close to Belgian border. Would stay there again.

Booked to stay 3 nights but was disgusted with the room so small the bed was very small and low it was supposed to be a disabled room that was a joke the bathroom was not clean, the wardrobe did not have a door on it, the restaurant was not good so had to go out for food, only stayed one night, would not recommend to anyone.

cheap and clean for overnight stay, could do with more pillows

Quite simply the worst hotel I have stayed in for the last 20 years. Tiny room, very sparsely furnished. Tiny bathroom, barely room to swing a toothbrush. Only one soap dispenser to serve both basin & shower. Only one towel per person. No hairdryer. Paper thin walls, the whole place seems to shake when anyone closes a door. This is battery farming for human beings. Give them the smallest amount of space and the minimum of facilities and hope that they are too traumatised to complain. To add insult to injury it is not particularly cheap.

Hotel was badly in need of decoration, room was small, bed was small, uncormfortable, and very low, hotel restaurant and bar was all closed by 10pm. We booked for 2 nights but only stayed one - it was THAT BAD...how they can have the cheek to call it Best is beyond me!!!!
